WWE would not be expecting The Rock to be part of the build towards WrestleMania 43 next year. According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select this Thursday, the company's creative team is "operating under the assumption" that Rock will not be available to participate in storylines leading up to next year's event in Saudi Arabia. The report noted, however, that a source indicated that things could change.

In an episode of Wrestling Observer Radio last month, Dave Meltzer addressed The Rock's possible unavailability for WrestleMania due to the filming schedule of Fast Forever, the latest film in the Fast & Furious franchise. The Rock is set to appear in the film and filming is expected to begin in December.

Meltzer pointed out that, due to that schedule, he considers "very unlikely" that The Rock will wrestle at WrestleMania next year. "Because that movie is going to take months to film, if he's in it, as planned, having a match at WrestleMania would be ruled out. I mean, could he fly to Saudi Arabia and appear? Of course. Of course he could, and he could always do that," he explained.

Open door to a change?

Although WWE's current planning seems to rule out The Rock on the road to WrestleMania 43, the possibility of a change of plans is not completely closed. However, with the filming of Fast Forever on the horizon, any appearance at the event would depend on a very tight coordination between the film's production and WWE's commitments.
