Wrestlepalooza may not be the biggest event that Perth has ever seen if new backstage information turns out to be accurate. In fact, WWE would already be laying the groundwork to bring one of its most important live premium events to Australia in the coming years.
WWE recently announced Wrestlepalooza for December 12 at the RAC Arena, along with SmackDown and RAW during the same weekend. Although on the surface it seemed like a one-time return, it apparently represents something much bigger behind the scenes. Speaking on WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, Joey Votes revealed that WWE's deal with Perth goes far beyond this December. According to a source, the company has closed a three-year partnership with the city, with a live premium event weekend planned each year until 2028.
"After the announcement that Wrestlepalooza will arrive in Perth, Australia, in December, we spoke with a source who told us that WWE is committed to a three-year partnership with the city, with a planned PLE weekend in Perth each of the next three years."
The same source indicated that one of those weekends could be reserved for "a major PLE", highlighting Survivor Series or even the Royal Rumble as potential options. It was suggested that 2028 could be a target for WWE to bring one of its four major traditional events to Perth, meaning there is a real possibility that the city will receive something significantly larger than a standard PLE during this partnership.
"We have a source telling us that, perhaps, don't expect these lower-level shows, hate to say it, B-type," Joey added, while TC joked about how these events are sold to cities like Perth. Joey made it clear that he wasn't confirming a Royal Rumble in Perth, but that a source had mentioned the possibility of a "Big Four" there. "I don't think WrestleMania is going to happen there. Personally, I don't think a SummerSlam is going to happen. I think a Royal Rumble is an option," he clarified.
The conversation turned to why Perth fits so well for WWE. TC explained that these decisions often depend on which cities are willing to pay for big events, and already having a three-year agreement gives WWE valuable flexibility. "When it comes to booking these locations and these big shows, it's about money. It's about where WWE is going to get money, what cities and tourism organizations decide to negotiate with WWE to pay them to come there," he said.
Joey responded: "And if they've signed a three-year agreement, they have the money, right?". TC expanded: "But there's also no event locked in for Perth, right? They have three scheduled events, but not specific events. So WWE isn't obligated... If they don't get the deal they want for a specific Royal Rumble, they already have that money secured from a place like Perth, which they can then apply to that Royal Rumble instead of scrambling last minute to find a fitting location".
Joey Votes pointed out that Wrestlepalooza itself could shape WWE's future plans for Australia, hinting that the December event will give a clearer picture of where the partnership is heading. "We'll see how it unfolds... I'm sure once Wrestlepalooza takes place in December, news will come out. If we hear anything else, we'll update you," he concluded.
For now, Wrestlepalooza remains the only officially announced live premium event. But if this report is indicative of anything, WWE's partnership with Perth could end up being remembered less for launching a new show and more for opening the door for one of the company's major annual events to make the trip to Australia.
