Sunil Singh will never forget the night of September 19, 2026. The former WWE superstar suffered an unfortunate mishap during his match at Bridge City Brawl 5 of the Pure Power Wrestling promotion. One that could have cost him his life, as Sunil revealed in a recent post on his X account.
"Today I am very lucky to be alive. Saturday night was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. While I was competing in the ring and performing a move I have done for years, X-rays taken at the hospital revealed that I suffered a collapsed lung on the right side as a result of the impact. The emergency room doctor told me: 'You are very lucky to be alive. The angels were watching over you.'
Those words still resonate in my head. At that moment, I was desperately trying to catch my breath and having difficulty breathing, not knowing what was happening or the seriousness of the situation. When the match ended and I reached the backstage area, I couldn't stand up and still had difficulty breathing.
For a moment, I truly felt like I was facing death. I have been doing what I love for decades, stepping into that ring and giving it my all. I never imagined that a move I have performed countless times could lead to something so terrifying. I didn't want to die and all I could think at that moment was: 'How am I going to take my son to hockey and hit the ice with him?'
I am incredibly grateful to be here and I want to thank all the members of Pure Power Wrestling, the locker room, and especially my brother, who helped ensure that the medical team arrived at the venue on time. I will soon attend follow-up medical appointments and will face all of this breath by breath, day by day, and step by step.
The last five years, since my departure from WWE, have been some of the most rewarding and challenging years of my life, and I don't want all that effort to have been in vain. My brother and I have worked tirelessly to rise again. Thank you all for your love and support, both the one you have shown me so far and the one you continue to tirelessly provide," Sunil wrote.
Sunil and his brother Samir rose to fame in WWE under the name The Bollywood Boyz. They both worked for the company for six years before being released as part of a wave of cuts in 2021. After that, Sunil and Samir returned to the independent scene, even competing for All Elite Wrestling.
Currently they are the PPW Tag Team Champions, titles they won precisely on Saturday night after defeating The Brand (Shaun Martens and Sydney Steele). It is unknown when they will be able to return to action and how this situation will affect the championships. In any case, this is put on the back burner, as that night Sunil achieved a much greater prize than gold.
