Pro Wrestling Illustrated has already revealed the top ten positions of its 2026 edition of the PWI 500, one of the most recognized and debated rankings in professional wrestling. The list once again brings together names from WWE, AEW, CMLL, NJPW, and NXT, reflecting the international nature of an industry that is increasingly borderless.
The PWI 500 is an annual ranking compiled by Pro Wrestling Illustrated that ranks male wrestlers from around the world based on their performance during a specific period. It is not simply a popularity-based ranking or based on who has more television minutes. Factors such as achievements in the ring, match quality, the significance of rivalries, the wrestler's influence, and technical ability are taken into account to compile the list.
In this edition, the evaluation period spanned from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026. MJF tops the 2026 ranking, placing ahead of Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. The podium mixes three of the most prominent names in the American scene, with MJF taking the top spot as recognition of the consistency of his season and the weight of his performances during the evaluation period.
The fourth position goes to Místico, a particularly important placement for CMLL and Mexican wrestling. His presence among the world's best confirms that the ranking is not limited to WWE and AEW, and that the results, relevance, and international impact of Mexican wrestlers continue to carry considerable weight.
Konosuke Takeshita appears in the fifth position, followed by Adam Page in the sixth. The list continues with Yota Tsuji, representing NJPW, in the seventh position; Trick Williams, from WWE, in the eighth; Oba Femi, also linked to the new generation of WWE, in the ninth; and Gunther rounding out the top 10.
The presence of several young wrestlers at the top is one of the most striking details of this edition. Trick Williams, Oba Femi, Yota Tsuji, and Konosuke Takeshita represent different paths of growth within current wrestling, while names like Místico, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther bring experience and a well-established trajectory on the big stages.

The rest of the PWI 500 will show which other wrestlers have been recognized for their work between August 2025 and July 2026, in addition to providing a more complete picture of the distribution of prominence among the main companies and independent scenes.
