AMC and TNA+ aired last night the 1,158th episode of TNA Thursday Night iMPACT!, live from the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas. The show featured several matches and segments of interest, highlighting the revelation of Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw as the mysterious backstage attackers and Mustafa Ali's victory over Jason Hotch and Trey Miguel to retain the TNA International Championship in the main event of the night.
- Leon Slater was in charge of opening the show. Leon recalled his satisfying victory over Ryan Nemeth on last week's show. A victory tarnished by the subsequent attack suffered at the hands of Nic Nemeth. At that moment, he wondered why a champion like him would behave in such a cowardly way, and finally understood it. Nic had witnessed week after week how Slater became stronger, smarter, and faster, becoming a man who could dethrone him. Leon assured he was ready to take away the TNA World Championship from him, but didn't want to wait until Bound For Glory, so he demanded his presence right then and there.
The champion didn't take long to answer Leon's call. "Kid, do you really think I attacked you because I'm afraid of you?" he asked as he entered the ring. Nic pointed out that there was a big difference between a talent with a bright future like Leon and a true champion like himself. Furthermore, if his brother Ryan won the X-Division Championship, their family would dominate TNA forever. That said, he asked Leon if his father had made sure to teach him something, because he was behaving like an idiot. Slater made it clear that he wasn't, and that he knew Ryan was behind him, ready to attack. With that said, Slater turned to hit Ryan, catching him off guard before he could do it. Subsequently, Leon and Nic started a fight that the security team could barely stop. Tired of this situation, Santino Marella appeared on the scene to take action. If Nic lays a finger on Leon before Bound For Glory, he will be stripped of his championship. If Leon does it, he will lose his title shot.
- Matt Hardy delivered a backstage promo. Matt recalled that the mysterious attackers who had been causing chaos in TNA in recent weeks finally decided to go after him last week. Matt assured that he hadn't forgotten what they did to his brother. However, they had made a big mistake. "You didn't finish him. And now he's back," said Matt to make way for Jeff. The Hardys sent a direct message to their mysterious attackers, giving them an hour to meet them in the ring.
- Indi Hartwell approached Daria Rae backstage with a provocative attitude. Indi claimed she wasn't afraid of her and that Rae thought she was tougher than she appeared. That said, she challenged her to a fight. Rae refused, leading Hartwell to call her "stupid". Furious, the Director of Operations slapped Indi. Instead of responding to the attack, Hartwell asked if she looked good. At that moment, Santino Marella appeared on the scene with a smartphone in hand. Marella had recorded the attack sequence, which would be sent directly to the TNA board. Indi and Marella left the scene laughing.
- Ryan Nemeth defeated KJ Orso to qualify for the X-Division Championship match at TNA Bound For Glory. Ryan applied a Hollywood Ending for the victory.
- A cryptic video starring Rosemary was shown, wearing a straitjacket with the patient number 666. Another version of Rosemary, playing the role of a psychiatrist, appeared next to her. "Alright, Rosemary. Let's start from the beginning, okay?", she asked. This led to the end of the video.
- Mustafa Ali confronted John Skyler and Mila Moore, wondering which of them had the great idea for him to defend the TNA International Championship in a triple threat match on the day he returned to action after weeks fighting for his life in a hospital bed. Ali directly blamed Mila for it. Skylar interrupted his leader to defend Moore, pointing out that she had done a great job keeping Order 4 together in his absence. He also considered her a good person. Ali laughed, reminding him of what happened last week. That said, the champion left. Mila approached Jason to thank him for standing up for her, but he left, still hurt by his comment from the previous week.
- The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch) defeated Rich Swann and BDE in a Dot Combat Match. Vincent applied an Orange Sunshine on BDE for the victory. After the match, Vincent and Dutch attacked BDE with two chairs to harm his neck.
- Frankie Kazarian approached Avery Styles to inform him that he will be part of the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match at Bound For Glory, marking his in-ring debut in TNA Wrestling. Frankie pointed out that it will be his chance to show the world that he belongs in this place.
TNA provided a medical update on several of its talents:
- Indi Hartwell and Harley Hudson joked about the trap Daria Rae had fallen into that night. Santino Marella joined the conversation to inform them that he had already sent the video to the TNA board, and they had decided to suspend Rae immediately, meaning he was the only authority figure at that moment. That's why he made official a match for the Knockouts World Championship at Bound For Glory, where Xia Brookside will defend the gold against Hartwell. The news didn't sit well with Brookside, who quickly appeared to confront the Director of Authority. Xia pointed out that Daria Rae would never allow that match to take place. Santino informed her that Rae had been suspended, and he was the only person in the promotion with the power to book matches. Marella and Hudson left. Indi stayed with Brookside. "See you at Bound For Glory, champion," she said before leaving the scene.
- The Hardys (Matt and Jeff Hardy) came out to address the mysterious assailants who had been causing chaos in TNA in recent weeks. Matt pointed out that they had managed to get their attention, and that of all TNA. However, their attacks had to come to an end that same night. That said, he urged them to show their faces and reveal their identities to the world... unless they were cowards. At that moment, the giant screen in the venue, as well as the lights in the arena, began to fail. Suddenly, two hooded figures took advantage of the darkness to launch an assault on the legends, who ended up lying on the canvas. With the light restored, both men removed their hoods, revealing their true identities: Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw (Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis in WWE). Meanwhile, the venue screen displayed the initials "SYX". "Holy sh*t!", chanted the fans as the segment came to an end.
- Elijah defeated Eddie Edwards (with Alisha Edwards) after applying a Highwayman's Farewell.
- Moose delivered a backstage promo recalling his victory over Frankie Kazarian last week. Moose admitted that his neck was still hurting after that match, but it was worth it to show that he is "The Face of the Franchise". A.J. Francis and Expressions soon interrupted him. Francis claimed he is the true "Face of the Franchise" of TNA. As an example, he pointed out that he got Dude Wipes (a brand of male wet wipes) to become a sponsor. "Because your a** stinks?" Moose mocked him. Moose then proposed to face off in the ring again. A.J. Francis just had to choose a day and a place to do it. "WE ACCEPT," shouted Expressions. A smiling Francis left with his partner to end this segment.
- Elayna Black defeated Gabby Forza, Jada Stone, and Harley Hudson to earn a shot at the Knockouts World Television Championship. Elayna applied a Blackout on Stone for the victory.
- Mila Moore approached John Skyler once again to thank him for standing up for her against Mustafa Ali. Hotch pointed out that he was just telling the truth. Besides, he believed Mila deserved better. Captivated by her companion's words, Moore got closer to him. They were about to kiss when Ali interrupted them. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?" he exclaimed. Mustafa didn't believe they were flirting right before his title defense. Mila then made the decision to leave the faction. Surprised, Ali made it clear she couldn't do that. "I just did it", Mila replied. "And John is leaving too", she added as she took her companion's hand to leave the scene. Furious, Ali ordered Special Agent 0 to go after them. He, meanwhile, headed to the ring.
- Zoey Serrano tried to calm Daria Rae during a phone conversation. Serrano promised her friend that she would personally make sure Indi Hartwell couldn't compete at TNA Bound For Glory.
- Mustafa Ali (with Tasha Steelz) defeated Trey Miguel and Jason Hotch in a triple threat to retain the TNA International Championship in the main event of the night. Ali got rid of Hotch after causing him to accidentally crush Steelz. After that, he hit Miguel's head with his championship and then covered him, sealing his victory.
- Backstage, a sore Matt and Jeff Hardy addressed Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw, assuring them that their attack would not go unanswered. "Next week, get ready for war!", Matt shouted as the show came to an end.
