The celebration of Crown Jewel has been a recurring topic of conversation throughout this summer, especially after the escalation of the war in Iran in recent weeks. Many believe that WWE should not travel to Saudi Arabia for security reasons. However, it seems that the show will finally take place as planned, according to a recent report from Fightful Select about WrestleMania 43.
"Everything is moving full steam ahead towards WrestleMania 2027 in Saudi Arabia. As Fightful Select learned from sources familiar with the preparations on the Saudi side, their intention is for the event to be as big as possible from their end. Representatives from Saudi Arabia were at WWE headquarters a couple of weeks ago for initial meetings related to the event," the outlet wrote.
"Additionally, we are informed that this week the setup of the facilities for WWE Crown Jewel will begin in Riyadh. The event will take place on November 7th at the Riyadh Seasonal Stadium, a temporary outdoor stadium. Sources we have spoken to indicate that the intention is for the WrestleMania date to be announced around that event, if it has not already been made official by then," Fightful wrote.
"A source from WWE we spoke to confirmed that the reason WrestleMania is being held in collaboration with Saudi Arabia is why the date was announced so late," the report continued. "It is understandable that there are several independent wrestling companies still waiting for the WrestleMania date to be revealed, as they are waiting to see if there will be other events they can take advantage of since that weekend will not be held in the United States."
The Riyadh Seasonal Stadium already hosted the historic edition of the Royal Rumble earlier this year. The show had an attendance of over 20,000 spectators (25,000 according to WWE's official figures). Some reports estimate that the stadium could accommodate up to 30,000 seats. So far, the company has not announced any matches for the event. It is expected that the card will begin to take shape once Money in the Bank concludes, an event scheduled for next weekend.
