Steven Borden kept fans on the edge of their seats after being involved in an incident during his match at AEW All Out. The wrestler was supposed to prevent Kevin Knight from hitting Darby Allin with a Coast to Coast. To do so, he intercepted him mid-air, which ended with both of them falling onto the canvas. However, something didn't go as planned and Borden had to be taken out on a stretcher.
Throughout the show, the commentators reassured fans with the good news that the wrestler was conscious and stable in the hospital, and that he even asked about the match. In fact, Borden seemed more concerned about having ruined the fight than about his incident. This was explained by Tony Schiavone in the most recent edition of What Happened When.
"I spoke with Steven yesterday (Sunday) over the phone. He was fine. He had no headaches or dizziness. As for the diagnosis, that has to come from our doctor. I can tell you that, after talking to him, he said: 'I'm fine'. He also told me: 'In all the years I played football at the University of Kentucky, I never suffered a concussion or experienced anything like this'," Schiavone commented.
"He was more upset because he thought he had ruined the pay-per-view with what happened. I told him: 'No, you didn't. We announced it and then communicated it to the audience again. Everyone was very relieved that you were okay'. That cheered him up a lot," he continued. "How long will he be out? I don't know. I'm sure they'll have to check him before he can compete again. It was very scary."
Borden began his professional career late last year. Trained by Darby Allin, Sting's son started competing in the independent scene before making the leap to All Elite Wrestling. Before his official debut, Borden wrestled in nearly thirty dark matches prior to the company's televised shows. Before his incident, Borden and Allin had set their sights on capturing the AEW World Tag Team Championships, currently held by The Young Bucks.
