Live Report of WWE SmackDown October 9, 2026

WWE SmackDown starts on Netflix!

We see the arrival of some of the protagonists of tonight: Charlotte Flair, Tatum Paxley, and Alexa Bliss, as well as the twelve participants in the Money in the Bank matches.

We see Nick Aldis in his office, where he receives the unexpected visit of Adam Pearce. Pearce asks the SmackDown General Manager why he has scheduled a match with talents from the Raw brand. Aldis points out that he couldn't pass up this opportunity. Additionally, Pearce would have done the same in his place. Adam understands, but he would have liked Aldis to discuss it with him beforehand. Aldis wonders if Pearce fears his talents will be defeated. At that moment, Trick Williams and Lil Yachty appear on the scene. Trick knows that tomorrow is Money in the Bank, but he has unfinished business with Sami Zayn. Bron Breakker enters the office, where he shakes hands with Pearce (not with Aldis). Breakker asks the SmackDown General Manager if he has summoned him tonight just to waste his time, because he has things to prepare before Money in the Bank. Williams and Yachty confront Bron for interrupting Aldis. "I haven't heard you. It seems like you feel like fighting right now," says Breakker as he faces off with Trick. Adam settles the matter by proposing an individual match between them in the main event of the night... unless Aldis fears his talent can't win. Williams accepts the Raw General Manager's proposal and Nick approves it. Pearce and Breakker leave the office to end this brief segment.

CM Punk is in charge of opening tonight's show. The fans welcome him with a great ovation. CM Punk heads towards the ring, where we see three ladders inside. CM Punk takes a microphone to address the audience. "The Best in the World" points out that many people have asked him "why." Why at this point in his career is he risking himself in a ladder match? CM Punk recalls that he has competed in Money in the Bank before. In fact, he has won the briefcase twice and then cashed it in. CM Punk climbs to the top of one of the ladders.

"The Best in the World" acknowledges that he may be a little crazy, but the truth is that tomorrow he will have the opportunity to make history. And that, a victory would make him the first superstar to win the briefcase three times. CM Punk reviews the list of participants in the match, where there are some talents he has never faced, like Je'Von Evans and Penta. The match will also feature Bron Breakker, an opponent he has already survived. And then there's Kevin Owens, the only guy he doesn't worry about at all.

KO interrupts the segment!

Owens "thanks" CM Punk for his introduction. Kevin heads to the ring to acknowledge that tomorrow he will have two big goals to accomplish: win the Money in the Bank briefcase and prevent CM Punk from getting it, because "The Best in the World" doesn't deserve to be a world champion again. In fact, even if he doesn't win, Kevin will leave New Orleans satisfied as long as he ensures that CM Punk doesn't achieve his goal either. CM Punk points out that the Canadian is using him as a preventive excuse in case he doesn't win tomorrow, settling for the latter's defeat as if it were a consolation prize. CM Punk trusts himself, while Owens doesn't. And that's the reason why he's on top of the world, while the Canadian has to look up at him. Kevin climbs one of the ladders to be able to look directly into CM Punk's eyes. Owens is looking at a man who won't win the briefcase in front of him. That briefcase will be Kevin's. And once he has it in his hands, he will cash it in on that bastard Sami Zayn.

The Undisputed WWE Champion bursts onto the scene!

Zayn climbs the third ladder to put himself at the same height as CM Punk and Kevin, but the length of the ladder is shorter. The fans boo Sami. He doesn't understand how the company's top champion is on a smaller ladder than two men who don't hold any titles. "I'm sure you've heard this many times in the past. It doesn't matter the size of the ladder, but what you do with it", says CM Punk. "I'm going to wrap it around that big head of yours and then I'm going to go get my title back", he adds looking at Owens.

Sami is tired of the constant lack of respect he has been hearing in recent weeks. Zayn wants to remind them that he is a survivor. That's something he proved when he found a way to beat both of them. CM Punk and Owens blame each other for their losses against Sami. He makes it clear that it wasn't like that. If he beat them, it's because he's smarter than them. Zayn considers Kevin and CM Punk to be equals. The difference is that Owens, at least, admits he hates CM Punk. The latter, however, refuses to admit how much he hates seeing Zayn with the championship in his possession. Sami promises that none of them will get the briefcase, and he will continue to be the Undisputed WWE Champion. That said, Zayn leaves to end the segment.

Tag Team Match
Team SmackDown (Lash Legend, Jacy Jayne, and Tiffany Stratton) vs. Team Raw (Roxanne Perez, Lola Vice, and Sol Ruca)

Sol and Jacy start the fight. Jayne catches Ruca in a headlock before taking her down. Sol shows off her agility to surprise Jacy with a faceplant. Perez receives the tag to continue the fight. Jacy throws Roxanne against one of the corners to give the tag to Lash. Perez slaps Legend before mocking her. Roxanne dodges the impact of a pump kick from Lash before running towards her corner. Lola and Sol leave the ring to avoid receiving the tag from their partner. A furious Lash gets her revenge on Perez with a right hand. 1..2..NO.

Lola gets the tag to continue the fight. Vice unleashes a flurry of attacks on Lash, who ends up outside the ring. Lola jumps on Legend with a back senton, but her opponent stops her in mid-air. Still, Vice manages to turn around to throw her opponent against one of the posts. One by one, the participants throw themselves at their opponents. Sol is the last to do so with a moonsault. Ruca brings Lash back into the ring, where she teams up with Vice. Both women apply a stereo superkick on Lash. She distracts the referee, a moment that Jacy takes advantage of to get Ruca out of the ring. Jayne kicks her with a P.K. before bringing her back into the ring. Lash finishes her off with a clothesline. 1..2..NO.

Team SmackDown continues to dominate the match. Jacy crushes Sol with a senton. 1..2..NO. Jayne tags in Tiffany, only to start an argument with her partner. Stratton takes Ruca to the ropes, where she applies a running hip attack. Lash gets the tag. Legend takes down Sol before crushing her with a splash. 1..2..NO. Jacy gets the tag to kick Ruca in the stomach, catching her in a crossface. Sol throws herself back against one of the corners to free herself.

Jayne kicks Lola in her own corner before diving with a corner cannonball on Ruca. She dodges the attack, causing the United States Champion to hit the corner. Sol heads to her corner to seek the tag from Roxanne, but she leaves the ring to deny her help. Jacy surprises Sol with a neckbreaker. Ruca escapes from Jayne to tag in Vice, who enters with everything. Lola kicks Jacy and Lash, applying two Running Hip Attacks on opposite corners. Roxanne tags in, which annoys Vice. Both women push each other, a moment that Tiffany takes advantage of to surprise them.

Lash tags in with the aim of finishing off Perez, but she resists. Sol gets the tag to jump on Legend, who she takes down with a DDT. Ruca is ready to cover her opponent, but Jayne prevents it with a knee strike. Roxanne surprises Jacy with a Pop Rox. Stratton knocks out Perez with a dropkick, only to receive a back fist from Lola. Lash surprises Vice with a pump kick. Ruca prepares a Sol Snatcher on Legend. She pushes Lola so she receives the impact of the finisher. Legend catches Ruca to finish her off with a Lash Extension. 1..2..3.

Winners: Lash Legend, Tiffany Stratton, and Jacy Jayne.

Lash celebrates the victory with her partners when suddenly she grabs Stratton to throw her against Jacy. She falls to ringside. Legend finishes off Tiffany with a Lash Extension. Legend poses alone to end this segment.

Cathy Kelley interviews Chelsea Green backstage. The Interim WWE Champion prefers to face the women's Money in the Bank match with optimism, as a victory by Tiffany Stratton would prevent the briefcase from being cashed in on her. Additionally, once her friend wins, they can celebrate by having some daiquiris. Nikki Bella interrupts the interview to warn Chelsea that she should be more concerned about her. Nikki hopes that Green pays attention to her match next week, as what she does to Paige will be exactly what she will do to her before taking away the championship. Green believes that Nikki is just envious of her being a champion, something that Bella cannot say about herself. "You will be soon," Nikki replies. "You were a decade ago," Chelsea retorts. "Let's be realistic. Your reign will be like your reality show campaigns: a failure. You are nothing more than a cheap imitation of Nikki Bella. And I think the WWE Women's Championship deserves the real deal. You know, ask your husband. I'm sure he wants one too," says Nikki. Suddenly, a loud noise startles the three women. The camera moves to that place, where we see Jade Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin attacking Charlotte Flair. A referee appears on the scene to separate the attackers from "The Queen," but the damage is already done. The heels leave smiling as the segment comes to an end.

We return from commercial to see Nick Aldis with Charlotte Flair, who is being attended to by a doctor. Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss appear on the scene, where they are informed of what just happened. Aldis points out that he will cancel the title match tonight, as Flair is not in a condition to fight. Charlotte asks the General Manager not to do it. Nick insists that she won't be able to compete, so he will postpone the match for another day. Flair, however, proposes another idea: Alexa will replace her. Bliss accepts her partner's request. Nick decides to keep the match, but with an addition: no one can be present at ringside during the fight, and that includes Jacy Jayne. Aldis leaves the scene. Tatum asks Flair how she is feeling. "I'm fine. Go win the tag titles", replies "The Queen." And so we come to the end of this segment.

Tag Team Match
MFT (Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga) (with Haku) vs. War Raiders (Ivar and Erik)

Talla and Erik start the fight. Talla takes down Erik to give his team the advantage. Talla and Tama prepare to combine against their opponent, but he tags in Ivar. The fight continues at ringside with the Tongans attacking Erik. Ivar jumps on them with an apron cannonball. The action returns to the ring. Talla takes down Erik before hitting Ivar, who falls to ringside. Talla executes a powerslam on Erik for Tama to finish him off with a sliding clothesline. 1..2..NO.

The WWE Tag Team Champions team up against Erik. Talla applies a side slam on Erik for Tama to cover him. 1..2..NO. Tama catches Erik in a submission hold. Erik frees himself to tag in Ivar, who enters with everything. Ivar takes down Tama before crushing him with a running crossbody. Ivar performs a spinning kick on Tama before seeking height on one of the corners. Talla distracts him long enough for Tama to recover. Tama hits Ivar before applying a neckbreaker. 1..2..NO.

Bakusai (Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki) appear on the scene. Tama is distracted by the presence of the Japanese. Ivar crushes Tama to tag in Erik. Tama surprises Erik with a flatliner before knocking down Ivar with a dropkick. Kyoki climbs onto the apron to exchange threats with Tama. He gets rid of the Japanese. However, when he turns around, he becomes a victim of the combined finisher of War Raiders.

The referee prevents a furious Kyoki from entering the ring. Meanwhile, on the opposite side, Erik tries to bring Tama to the center of the ring. Haku takes advantage of the situation to hit Erik's throat with his cane. Ivar approaches his partner, unaware that Talla is lurking behind him. Ivar turns around to be taken down with a clothesline. With Ivar out of the game, MFT finishes off Erik with their Brother's Keeper. 1..2..3.

Winners: MFT

Nakamura and Kyoki burst into the ring to kick Tama and Talla, whom they expel from the ring. Ivar returns to attack Kyoki from behind. Ivar faces off with Shinsuke, whom he soon pushes. Furious, Kyoki attacks. Kyoki applies an inverted Stunner on Ivar for Nakamura to finish him off with the Kinshasa. The Japanese stand tall in the ring as the segment comes to an end.

We head backstage, where Danhausen uses his "evil detector" on Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis, both of whom receive negative readings. Finn Bálor appears on the scene to ask Aldis to grant him a match against Gunther. The Irishman points out that he has been behaving professionally, but he can no longer keep it up. He wants Gunther, and he wants him tonight. Danhausen uses the "evil detector" on Finn. The device returns a positive reading, much to Danhausen's surprise. "Wow! So much evil!" Danhausen exclaims, patting Pearce on the chest. "I need a drink," says the Raw General Manager before walking away. Bálor reiterates his desire to face Gunther tonight. Aldis understands, but he cannot give him what he wants, as the Austrian has requested a match for tonight... against Danhausen. "WHAT!?" Danhausen exclaims. Nick believes it was only fair to grant "The Ring General" his request after everything that has happened over the past few weeks. Finn reminds Danhausen that Gunther has retired Goldberg, AJ Styles, and John Cena. "WHEN!?" Danhausen exclaims. However, he does remember that the Austrian defeated Aldis. Resigned to his fate, Danhausen accepts that he will have to fight tonight and leaves to prepare for the match.

We see a video recorded outside the venue before the show. Nick Aldis is talking to The Miz and Kit Wilson. The Miz berates the General Manager for not throwing him a birthday party. Aldis points out that his birthday was yesterday. The Miz claims that his celebrations last the entire weekend. Furthermore, Nick has not even wished him a happy birthday. The first person to do so, in fact, was John Cena. Aldis apologizes to The Miz and Wilson before heading over to Randy Orton. The General Manager wastes no time reprimanding him for his actions during last week's main event. That behavior was unacceptable, and he cannot allow anything like it to happen again with Money in the Bank less than 24 hours away. "The Viper" interrupts the Brit, assuring him that he will make things easy for him. Orton tells him that he will leave the venue before the show even begins, so Aldis will have nothing to worry about. However, he wants him to understand that his biggest problem is not him, but Cody Rhodes. Cody is the one who keeps saying that he will rip Orton's head off. As for Orton, he was simply keeping his promise: preventing Rhodes from winning the WWE Championship again before Orton claims his fifteenth world title. Finally, he asks Aldis to tell Rhodes that everyone knows "The American Nightmare" will hesitate again the next time he gets the chance to rip Orton's head off. With that, Orton walks away. This brings the video to an end.

The Miz and Kit Wilson interrupt the show. Both men make their way to the ring. The Miz berates Nick Aldis for ignoring him and failing to throw him a birthday party. Wilson, meanwhile, urges the toxic fans in Lafayette to sing "Happy Birthday" when he gives them the signal. "One. Two. Three. Happ..."

Cody Rhodes interrupts the segment!

The Miz orders the music playing Rhodes' entrance theme, "Kingdom," to be stopped. Furious, The Miz berates the fans for singing along to "The American Nightmare's" theme song instead of "Happy Birthday." As for Rhodes, The Miz reminds him that he is no longer the Undisputed WWE Champion and that, unless he has come to wish him a happy birthday, he had better stay away from his ring. Cody wastes no time stepping into the ring. After throwing Wilson out of it, Cody takes out The Miz with a Cross Rhodes. Cody grabs a microphone to address the fans. "Well, Lafayette... WHAT DO YOU WANNA TALK ABOUT!?" he asks.

Nick Aldis appears on the scene. The General Manager explains that this is precisely why he allowed Randy Orton to go home. Aldis cannot afford to lose control of his show, and that is exactly what happens when Cody and Randy cross paths. Both men want to destroy each other, regardless of the consequences. Nobody benefits from this situation. In fact, it puts the safety and well-being of two of his top talents at risk, an even greater concern with Money in the Bank taking place in less than 24 hours. "This is about business, Cody. And my business, my job, is to put matches in the ring. You know that. So look, I know things between you two are far from over, but how about you and I take this to my office and discuss how we make it happen?" Aldis asks.

Cody starts to step out of the ring but ultimately returns to his original position. "Go to your office? NO! I don't think we need to go to your office! Why don't we stay in MY office!?" Rhodes exclaims. He recalls defeating Orton at WrestleMania, only for "The Viper" to kick him in the face afterward. Cody made his way backstage under his own power as blood poured from his face. He could barely open his eye, and the sight brought his daughter to tears. Behind those tears was one emotion: fear. Rhodes vows to bring that fear to every episode of SmackDown, every PLE, and every appearance of any kind until he finishes off "The Legend Killer."

Rhodes acknowledges that Orton is still standing because he showed him mercy for a few seconds at Sunday Night's Main Event. Moreover, Cody would be the Undisputed WWE Champion right now if it were not for Randy, who hid in the shadows and struck at the right moment. "I need a favor. I need you to get Randy Orton to meet me face-to-face," he tells Aldis. "I'm not ruling out getting on a plane to St. Louis and going after him myself. I need you to make this happen, because this is no longer about which path I'm going to take. It's no longer about who controls my moral compass. It's about what I'm going to do to that Michael Myers-like sociopath who walks to the beat of his own drum, that human waste, that dead weight, that waste of talent, that fragile piece of shit!" Cody exclaims before throwing the microphone onto the canvas. This brings the segment to an end.

Cathy Kelley interviews Damian Priest backstage. The Puerto Rican recalls that he has already been "Mr. Money in the Bank" and cashed in his briefcase to become World Champion at WrestleMania. Unfortunately, he will not be able to repeat that feat this year because he wasted his time alongside R-Truth. Kelley asks Damian about his relationship with his former partner. Annoyed, Priest wonders why people keep asking him the same question. If Kelley and the rest of the world are too stubborn to understand his reasons, he will not bother explaining himself any further. Suddenly, something catches his attention. Damian approaches Nathan Frazer and Axiom, who were whispering to each other nearby. Priest assumes the two Europeans were talking about him and challenges them to say whatever they have to say to his face. Frazer steps forward and points out that what Priest did to R-Truth was a low blow, and the Puerto Rican knows it. Damian asks whether they think he should apologize for it. Axiom says he should. "You should apologize. You should be ashamed of yourself," the Spaniard says. Priest walks away, but not before warning them that they will not like what happens next. Axiom tries to understand why Nathan had to confront Damian in the first place. At that moment, the former World Heavyweight Champion returns and attacks them both. Priest continues his assault until Frazer and Axiom can no longer get back to their feet. "Well, there you go. I'm sorry," Damian says. Suddenly, R-Truth appears out of nowhere and attacks Priest. The two men engage in a brawl that has to be broken up by a large group of officials.

Danhausen vs. Gunther

Danhausen prevents the referee from ringing the bell. He then prepares to curse Gunther. "You... are..." he begins before the Austrian takes him down with a big boot. Gunther delivers a powerbomb to Danhausen. The Austrian gets his opponent back to his feet and delivers a chop, followed by a second powerbomb. Gunther traps Danhausen against the top turnbuckle and delivers several chops. Gunther crushes Danhausen, prompting Finn Bálor to appear on the scene.

The Irishman unleashes a flurry of attacks on Gunther, who ends up at ringside. Finn follows him and delivers a slingblade. Bálor prepares to hit a Shotgun Dropkick, but the Austrian avoids it by jumping over the crowd barricade. Bálor heads back toward the ring to check on Danhausen. Gunther returns to catch the Irishman off guard and throw him out of the ring. "The Ring General" continues his assault on Bálor. Gunther delivers a powerbomb through the announce table. Several officials rush to the scene to attend to Finn. Gunther, meanwhile, heads backstage amid a chorus of boos.

Match never officially started

Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae are talking backstage. Gargano laments that their plans have not worked out as expected and that they can no longer become Mr. and Ms. Money in the Bank. Sami Zayn approaches them. The Canadian vents his frustration to Gargano and LeRae over the lack of respect he continues to receive. To make matters worse, he now has to deal with Kevin Owens again, as Owens will be competing at Money in the Bank. "Because he beat you last week. I wish you had won," Zayn tells Johnny. Gargano acknowledges that he lost, but points out that Sami could have helped him. LeRae asks the Canadian exactly what Nick Aldis told him that prevented him from joining them during that night's main event. Zayn simply replies that the General Manager warned him there would be consequences if he interfered. Sami asks them to forget about it and focus on what comes next. The three of them can overcome any obstacles in their way because they are survivors. Suddenly, Bron Breakker appears on the scene. "You know why I'm here?" Bron asks Sami. He remains silent. "I'll see you soon," Breakker says before walking away. This brings the segment to an end.

WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Match
Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid vs. Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss

Alexa and Lainey start the match. Fallon distracts Bliss, allowing Reid to catch her opponent off guard from behind. Lainey taunts Alexa, who catches Reid by surprise and throws her out of the ring. Henley then takes Bliss down with a diving neckbreaker. 1...2...NO. Fallon demands that the referee, Daphanie LaShaunn, count faster.

Henley goes after Bliss again, preparing to launch her next attack, but her opponent escapes and tags in Paxley. Tatum takes on both champions at the same time. Paxley drops to ringside to set up an enzuigiri using the apron for leverage, but Henley blocks the kick. Fallon holds her opponent in place, allowing Reid to deliver a superkick. Paxley falls to ringside. The champions pose beside the ropes as the broadcast heads into another commercial break.

Back from the break, Fallon is wearing down Tatum in the center of the ring. Lainey tags in to join her partner. However, Paxley manages to escape both opponents and tag in Bliss, who comes in firing on all cylinders. Alexa unleashes a fast-paced offensive flurry against Reid, taking her down with a Bow Down to the Queen. 1...2...NO. Bliss prepares to finish Lainey off with a Sister Abigail, but Henley prevents her from doing so. Fallon takes Alexa down, allowing Reid to finish her off with a running knee strike. Henley covers Bliss. 1...2...NO. Tatum breaks up the pinfall.

Lainey gets rid of Paxley with a punch before bringing Alexa back to her feet. Bliss catches the champion off guard, tripping her up on the ropes. Tatum takes advantage of the opening to kick Reid with an enzuigiri from her position at ringside. Disoriented, Lainey falls out of the ring. Meanwhile, Alexa kicks Fallon. Bliss tags in Paxley, who launches herself into a 450 Splash. However, Henley moves out of the way just in time to avoid the impact.

Fallon catches Paxley's corner crossbody with her knees before covering her with a roll-up. Reid grabs her partner's arm to apply extra leverage to the pinfall. 1...2... The referee stops the count after noticing the illegal tactic. An enraged Bliss grabs Lainey and delivers a Sister Abigail directly onto the floor. Meanwhile, Tatum catches Henley off guard with a Cemetery Drive. 1...2...3.

Winners and NEW WWE Women's Tag Team Champions: TATUM PAXLEY AND ALEXA BLISS

Tatum and Alexa pose with the championships in the center of the ring. Fireworks erupt throughout the arena to celebrate the moment. This brings the segment to an end.

Trick Williams (with Lil Yachty) vs. Bron Breakker

Both men lock up. Williams slaps Breakker in one of the corners before taking him down with a dropkick. The United States Champion kicks Bron out of the ring. Trick attempts to continue his offense but ends up falling into Breakker's clutches. Bron smashes Williams' head against the announce table before climbing onto the apron. From there, Bron launches himself at his opponent with a diving clothesline. Both men crash down behind the announce table.

Bron brings Trick back into the ring and delivers several corner spears. Breakker prepares to execute a superplex, but the United States Champion prevents him from doing so. Williams escapes Bron's grasp and takes him down with a flying clothesline. Breakker quickly recovers and catches his opponent off guard with a release German suplex. 1...2...NO. "You think you deserve to win Money in the Bank? Do you know what I've been through this year? Do you know what I've had to go through? Huh? You gotta know what it's like!" Bron shouts at Trick.

Breakker traps his opponent in a grounded headlock. Williams throws several elbows to break free. Trick continues striking Bron, who responds with another release German suplex. Breakker prepares to hit a spear, but Williams stops him with a kick. Breakker then blocks Trick's attempt at a uranage. Both men take each other down with simultaneous clotheslines. Bron and Trick get back to their feet and exchange strikes in the center of the ring.

Williams lands a series of well-placed kicks to gain the upper hand. Trick slaps his opponent with the back of his hand. He then kicks Bron in one of the corners as the fans chant "Whoop that Trick!" Breakker escapes his opponent and prepares to counterattack, but Williams stops him with a kick. Bron catches Trick off guard with a gutbuster. 1...2...NO. Breakker prepares to finish Williams with a spear, but the United States Champion stops him with a Trick Shot. Suddenly, Austin Theory storms onto the scene and attacks Trick! The referee calls for the bell.

Winner by disqualification: Trick Williams

Theory continues attacking Trick while Maxxine Dupri cheers him on from ringside. Lil Yachty climbs onto the apron to confront Austin. At that moment, Logan Paul appears and knocks the rapper off the apron before knocking him out with a right hand. Theory resumes his assault on Williams. Je'Von Evans storms into the ring and attacks Austin, taking him down with a springboard enzuigiri. Dupri climbs onto the apron to distract Evans, allowing Bron to attack him from behind.

Penta storms onto the scene!

Penta delivers several superkicks, sending Theory and Breakker out of the ring. He then launches himself at both men with a spinning tope. The Mexican celebrates with the fans when, suddenly, he is run over by a human freight train named Bronson Reed. The Australian enters the ring and kicks Je'Von and Trick. Theory and Breakker join their teammate. Austin brings Williams to his feet, allowing Bron to take him down with a spear. Reed finishes off the United States Champion with a Tsunami. The Vision members prepare to do the same to Je'Von just as the show comes to an end.
