Laynie Luck and Marcus Mathers, two of the most outstanding talents of the WWE ID program, will leave the project after the company decided not to renew their contracts. Mathers himself has been the one to announce the news through a statement on his social media.
"Starting this week, my time at WWE ID will have come to an end. It's been an incredible two years. I have learned a lot, acquired invaluable knowledge, and forged friendships and memories that I will always treasure. I want to thank WWE for their time! Time is the most valuable thing any of us can offer.
So, when this chapter came to an end, I did what I do best: move forward. I showed up at The Dungeon and trained with some of the most hungry people to succeed in the world. Today I trained with Amazing Red, tomorrow I will with Nick Gage, I have a match on Sunday and another on Monday.
A new chapter awaits me now, and it will depend on me and my desire to succeed to reach it. I am in control of my own destiny. I will show up EVERYWHERE to fight against ANYONE," Mathers wrote.
Mathers was one of the original talents of the ID program when it was officially introduced by WWE in October 2024. At just 23 years old, Marcus already has seven years of experience in the professional wrestling business. In addition to his participation in independent scene shows, Mathers had been regularly featured on WWE Evolve's television programming.
Luck's departure was confirmed by the specialized media outlet Fightful in a recent report. Like Mathers, Laynie's contract will expire this same week without WWE showing interest in renewing it. Her exit has not only surprised fans but also many within the company.
"Sean Ross Sapp, from Fightful Select, has confirmed that Laynie Luck's contract with WWE ID will expire this week and will not be renewed. According to sources consulted by the outlet, the decision has caused surprise within WWE. Luck had been the WWE ID women's champion for 320 days, until she lost the title to Monica Monroe.
During her time as WWE ID champion, several promoters consulted by Fightful highlighted Luck's willingness to work with any opponent and her ability to guide her rivals during matches when needed. Due to WWE Evolve's recording schedule, it is likely that the wrestler will continue to appear on WWE programming in the coming months," the outlet wrote.
In addition to her appearances on WWE Evolve, where she had become one of the most beloved female talents by fans, Luck also held the WWE ID Women's Championship, which she held for 320 days. Laynie lost the title to the ROW Champion at the event that Booker T's promotion held last weekend in Texas.
