TNA Wrestling has officially announced the renewal of Santino Marella's contract, who will remain linked to the company for at least another year. The veteran wrestler, 52 years old, will continue to play his role as Director of Authority, a position he has held for almost four years and has made him one of the regular characters on the company's television programming.
The news was first reported by The Johnny I Pro Show Podcast and later confirmed by TNA through an official statement. Marella himself explained the reasons that led him to extend his relationship with the company, highlighting the current moment the promotion is going through and the evolution of its roster.
During his appearance on The Johnny I Pro Show, Santino Marella confirmed that he has signed a new one-year deal with TNA and expressed satisfaction with the direction the company is taking.
I have renewed for another year with TNA. I feel it's the right thing to do. It's the right time, given the direction we are taking and the momentum we have. Since the arrival at AMC, everything has been incredible. The locker room continues to shine.
Marella also addressed the criticisms that TNA has received on social media in recent months. He explained that he has noticed an increase in negative comments towards the company, although he believes that attention can be seen as a sign that the company is gaining more relevance.
In his opinion, a promotion that doesn't generate reactions among fans can hardly be considered influential within the industry. He also highlighted the quality of Bound For Glory 2026 as an example of the work TNA is doing.
Since joining TNA, Marella has served as Director of Authority, a figure equivalent to the traditional general manager of wrestling programs. Throughout 2026, his main storyline has revolved around a power struggle with Daria Rae, formerly known as Sonya Deville in WWE, who debuted in TNA earlier this year and holds the position of Director of Operations.
Both characters have been involved in various disagreements related to the management of the company, a rivalry that has become part of TNA's regular programming.
Marella has also had the opportunity to share the screen with his daughter, Arianna Grace, a wrestler in WWE NXT. Thanks to the collaboration between both companies, father and daughter have been involved in a joint storyline that the veteran has especially valued for its personal significance. Although his main role remains as a television authority figure, Marella continues to make occasional appearances in the ring.
Santino Marella's continuity is confirmed just one day after TNA officially announced the addition of Shotzi Blackheart to its Knockouts division, thus strengthening its roster for the upcoming months.
Furthermore, the company is in the midst of a contract review process, as numerous agreements with its talents are set to expire before the end of 2026.
As recently reported by Fightful Select, TNA President Carlos Silva informed the wrestlers that the company intends to start discussions to finalize several renewals in the coming weeks. The goal would be to ensure greater stability and facilitate the planning of future storylines.
Marella's renewal represents one of the first confirmed moves within this process, although it is still unknown which other members of the roster will extend their contractual relationship with TNA.
With a career that includes multiple reigns as Intercontinental Champion, United States Champion, and WWE Tag Team Champion, Santino Marella will continue to bring his experience to TNA Wrestling in 2027.
