John Cena has confirmed that his return to WWE Raw on November 2 will officially kick off the promotion of the John Cena Classic, a new event the company will hold in December. The former world champion has used social media to build anticipation among fans, stating that the wait is almost over and that the questions surrounding this project will soon be answered.
Cena's appearance will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and will mark his return to Monday Night Raw for the first time since ending his career as a professional wrestler in December 2025.
After WWE announced his appearance on the upcoming episode of Raw, John Cena posted a message on his official X account in which he teased that November 2 will be an important date for the future of the John Cena Classic.
Make sure you don't miss WWE Raw next week. SPECIAL START TIME AT 6:00 PM ET! The wait is over, the speculation ends on November 2. Let's build this never-before-seen CLASSIC! OUR time is NOW!
His comments suggest that Cena will reveal new details about the format and organization of the event, which was originally announced during his appearance at WWE Backlash last May.
Although the company has been working internally on the project over the past several months, it has yet to publicly confirm the exact date, venue, or broadcast platform. Some of these details could be announced during Cena's appearance on Raw.
The John Cena Classic is an initiative led by Cena himself, who currently serves as a WWE ambassador following his retirement from in-ring competition. The goal is to organize an event inspired by the All-Star games of major American sports leagues, featuring talent from both WWE's main roster and NXT.
One of its main distinctive features will be the system used to determine the winner. Fans will be able to vote to decide who becomes the John Cena Classic champion, regardless of the results achieved by the participants in their matches.
This means that a wrestler could still receive the honor even after losing their match. According to information published by Wrestling Observer, everything points to it being an honorary championship that would not be defended on a regular basis, although WWE has yet to officially confirm this aspect.
The event is expected to take place in December 2026, although several details about its final format still remain to be announced.
The next edition of Monday Night Raw will take place in Brooklyn and will begin at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, two hours earlier than its usual start time.
WWE will also use the occasion to tape the November 6 episode of SmackDown before traveling to Saudi Arabia for the November 7 event.
At this time, the announced card for WWE Raw on November 2 is as follows:
John Cena's appearance will be one of the main attractions of the show, particularly because fans may finally learn how an event designed to offer a different format within WWE's calendar will work.
