The staging of WWE events in Saudi Arabia usually involves a significant mobilization of personnel and technical equipment. However, the company's upcoming trip to Riyadh appears to have an unusual twist. The company is reportedly offering financial compensation to staff members who agree to make the trip due to the current situation in the Asian country. This was explained in a recent report by WrestleVotes on Fightful Select.
"With WWE's next trip to Saudi Arabia scheduled for this weekend, WrestleVotes has learned through a company source, in comments reported by Fightful Select, that WWE is offering additional hazard pay to members of the production crew traveling to Riyadh," the outlet wrote.
"Traditionally, this type of incentive has not been offered to staff members performing their usual duties at events. According to the published report, several employees have decided not to make the trip, regardless of the additional compensation. WrestleVotes reached out to two WWE employees, both of whom indicated that the amount being offered is $3,000," Fightful wrote.
"Hazard pay is additional compensation given to employees for performing duties that involve risks or particularly demanding physical conditions. A job is considered to involve extraordinary physical exertion when it causes extreme physical discomfort and stress that cannot be adequately alleviated through the use of protective equipment," the report concluded.
WWE Crown Jewel will take place next Saturday, November 7, at The Venue (ANB Venue), a facility with a considerably smaller capacity than Riyadh Season Stadium, where the event was originally scheduled to take place. So far, four matches have been announced for the show. Additionally, a recent report indicated that WWE will travel to Saudi Arabia with a smaller travel party for security reasons.
