WWE had reportedly planned for some time for Tiffany Stratton to win the Money in the Bank briefcase and eventually become a challenger for Chelsea Green's WWE Women's Championship. That is according to a new report from Fightful Select, which also reveals a last-minute change to the company's creative plans in the days leading up to the event.
Although Stratton and Green have maintained their friendship on television, the long-term intention would reportedly be to eventually have the two wrestlers face each other. In the meantime, WWE has developed a storyline in which the briefcase holder has attempted to cash in her title opportunity against Liv Morgan, the current Women's World Champion.
According to Fightful Select on Friday, Tiffany Stratton's victory in the women's Money in the Bank ladder match had always been part of WWE's plans. The goal would be to use the briefcase to build toward a future rivalry with Chelsea Green over the WWE Women's Championship.
However, not every creative decision involving Stratton remained unchanged. The company reportedly altered the result of a tag team match held on SmackDown before the event.
In that match, Tiffany Stratton, Jacy Jayne and Lash Legend defeated Lola Vice, Roxanne Perez and Sol Ruca. According to sources who spoke with Fightful, the originally planned result was the opposite.
One of the plans that changed was the result of the SmackDown match in which Stratton, Jacy Jayne and Lash Legend defeated Lola Vice, Roxanne Perez and Sol Ruca. We're told that earlier that same day, the opposite result had been planned. The women involved in the Money in the Bank ladder match learned the previous night, Thursday, that Stratton would be the winner.
As a result, the participants learned who would win the briefcase just one day before the show, although the decision to have Stratton win was reportedly part of an earlier creative plan.
Since Money in the Bank, WWE has continued to present Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green as friends, while positioning Liv Morgan as the main target of the briefcase holder.
Stratton has attempted to cash in her contract on several occasions in order to receive an immediate opportunity at the Women's World Championship. However, interference from The Judgment Day has prevented the matches from officially starting, allowing Morgan to retain her title.
This situation has strengthened the possibility of Stratton eventually facing Morgan, although Fightful's report indicates that WWE's long-term plans are centered around Chelsea Green.
At this time, there is no confirmation regarding when that potential match could take place or whether Stratton will ultimately use the briefcase against Green.
