The edition of the Monday Night Raw episode, aired on August 11th, featured an unexpected change in its lineup when Naomi was removed from her match for the Women's Championship against IYO SKY. Instead, the champion faced Roxanne Perez, delivering a match that received internal praise within the company.
According to Fightful, through their Patreon pay channel, the people consulted within WWE were satisfied with how SKY and Perez took on the challenge and performed at a high level, despite being a last-minute substitution. Both demonstrated their quality in the ring, leaving a good impression on both executives and the audience.
The people at WWE who were spoken to were happy with the performances of IYO SKY and Roxanne Perez in replacing the planned world title match.
The match also served as a catalyst to accelerate Asuka's heel turn, who, along with Kairi Sane, tried to help SKY unsuccessfully. This caused tension between Asuka and IYO SKY. There are rumors that both wrestlers could face each other at the premium event Clash in Paris, something that has not been confirmed yet.
Roxanne Perez has become one of the main stars in the Raw women's division since making the jump from NXT. As for IYO SKY, the former women's world champion has overcome criticism after assuming the role of champion and getting involved in the storyline between Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 41.
