The farewell tour of John Cena is entering its final stretch and, according to new information, everything points to there already being a specific date for his last match within WWE. As reported by Wrestling Observer, December 27 had been considered, a date that coincides with AEW World's End. However, it seems that information was incorrect, although it was considered.
According to Joey Votes on the latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio, NBC plans for Cena's retirement match to take place on December 13, 2025. Initially, December 27 had been considered to coincide with AEW Worlds End, but the plan was discarded due to a prior commitment with the NFL and the intention to avoid competing with their own programming.
With this change of plans, everything indicates that John Cena's last match will take place on a special episode of Saturday Night's Main Event, at the TD Garden in Boston. The 17-time world champion has made it clear that he will not personally choose his final opponent, leaving the decision to WWE.
John Cena still has 11 dates left to fulfill, and two of them will be on August 31 at Clash in Paris, where he will face Logan Paul, and supposedly on September 20 at a premium event that is yet to be announced. Many wonder who he will face on his last date, if he will indeed have a match on that day.
