The Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre already has its big confirmed match for the 92nd Anniversary: MJF will put the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship on the line against the mask of Místico. The decision was made after the events that took place in the last Viernes Espectacular broadcast on YouTube, where the tension between them reached its peak.
After defeating Zandokan Jr., MJF stole his mask and provoked Místico's exit. The masked wrestler accepted the challenge for September 19 at Arena México, but the champion conditionally demanded that he put his mask on the line. Without hesitation, Místico accepted, thus formalizing a high-stakes duel that could mark a before and after in his career.
The closing of the night was equally impactful: MJF pretended to shake hands and, as Místico turned around, he attacked him with the championship, stripped him of his mask, and punished him with a Tombstone Piledriver. Alongside Jon Cruz, he even covered his body with the United States flag until the Sky Team came to the rescue. The audience at Arena México had a great reaction, making it clear the magnitude of what will be experienced at the anniversary.
The rivalry between them is not new. MJF and Místico have crossed paths in different arenas throughout the summer: at AEW Grand Slam México, where Místico won by disqualification after a low blow; at AEW All In, with MJF winning the Casino Gauntlet; and even at MLW Summer of the Beasts, where the American surprised by attacking the Mexican idol. Now, everything will culminate at the 92nd Anniversary with a clash that promises to make history.
