The funeral of Hulk Hogan brought together figures from different fields, and generated controversy, such as the one caused between Brutus Beefcake's wife and Hulkster's ex, although it was also productive for other people. D-Von Dudley took the opportunity to heal old wounds with the former TNA president, Dixie Carter. After years of distance, the Dudley Boyz member confessed that he was able to reconcile with her during the ceremony.

D-Von revealed on the Duke Loves Rasslin podcast that the reunion was a moment of personal catharsis. Although he described Hogan's farewell as a great tribute, he also admitted that it was bittersweet, as he regretted that it took a tragedy to speak again with people who had marked his career.

The former TNA champion explained that he hadn't seen Dixie Carter since his departure from the company after the "Loser Leaves Town" match against Aces and Eights. At that time, they barely kept in touch through isolated messages about family matters. However, the funeral served as an unexpected reunion that led to a sincere conversation between them.

D-Von acknowledged that for a long time he carried frustrations towards the former TNA management, especially after his rivalry with Bubba and the defeat against the Motor City Machine Guns, which left him sidelined in the company. According to his words, Dixie probably never knew how hurt he was by how his career was handled during that time.

A necessary closure

During the conversation with Carter, D-Von left behind any resentment and thanked her for all she did for him and Bubba when negotiations with WWE were stalled. Amid laughter and memories, they both agreed that tragedies should not be what bring people together, highlighting that they shared more good moments than bad ones.

D-Von summed it up with a clear reflection: "It was sad that it happened on that day, but we talked, laughed, and left things behind. Hulk's farewell also reminded us that we must move forward."

D-Von Dudley in TNA and his bitter departure

D-Von Dudley arrived at TNA Wrestling in 2005 alongside Bubba Ray Dudley (then Brother Ray), reinventing themselves as Team 3D after being unable to use their classic name due to WWE rights. During that time, the duo made a mark by winning the tag team titles multiple times, as well as starring in bloody battles that kept the extreme spirit of ECW alive. Their presence brought prestige to the tag team division and solidified them as one of the company's pillars during Dixie Carter's era.

Years later, D-Von also had an individual stage, even winning the TNA Television Championship. However, after the storyline with Aces & Eights, where he became one of the visible faces of the group, his role began to diminish. The defeat in a "Loser Leaves Town" match against the stable itself meant his departure from the company in 2013. That ending left D-Von with a bitter taste, as he felt that his career was mismanaged in those final months.
