Since his return to WWE Raw, Rusev has proven to be a dominant force and after weeks of an intense rivalry with his former partner Sheamus, which has caused chaos in the brand, General Manager Adam Pearce decided to arrange one last match between them, which will take place at Clash in Paris.
On July 16, Rusev and Sheamus faced each other in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament, in a match that also involved Jey Uso and Bronson Reed. Neither of them managed to advance to the next phase, which ended their participation in the tournament and sparked an intense rivalry between them.
In the following weeks, Rusev and Sheamus clashed on two occasions, each scoring a victory. In search of a tiebreaker, they had a third encounter on August 4 that ended without a winner, leading to relentless attacks on each other throughout the backstage area in the following days.
For these reasons, tonight General Manager Adam Pearce decided to arrange a special match between Rusev and Sheamus at the upcoming major event in Paris. The stipulation will be a Donnybrook Match, a no-disqualification Irish-themed fight, set in a bar, where the use of weapons like shillelaghs and barrels is allowed.
