In the world of wrestling, it is very common to see second, third, or even fourth generation wrestlers. Many fans denounce that it is a business where nepotism and family lineage are crucial for climbing the ranks, and in many cases, it is probably true.
Although in some cases the push of certain wrestlers is absolutely justified (Cody Rhodes, Bray Wyatt, or Randy Orton are very clear examples), in other occasions, other wrestlers who do not meet the requirements for that position are given a spot on television.
In an interview on Busted Open Radio, Natalya spoke about this issue. Jim Neidhart's daughter stated that her situation is not comparable to that of other second-generation wrestlers: while other families like the Flairs or the Rhodes had a good relationship with the McMahons, the Hart family had countless problems with them.
While other wrestlers had a bond that had lasted for decades, Bret Hart went as far as spitting on Vince McMahon, or even knocking him out after the Montreal Screwjob. Therefore, Natalya even recalls how they couldn't enter the WWE backstage until Tommy Dreamer finally acted as a mediator. "I'm pretty sure we were banned from the WWE backstage for a long time," the wrestler remembered.
The Canadian wrestler stated that Hart and McMahon had a bad relationship, even after the Hitman had been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. "There was a time in my life when I never thought I would get here because of what happened between Vince and Bret," she revealed.
Currently, Natalya has taken on a veteran role within WWE, now trying to push younger wrestlers like Maxinne Dupri. She competed in the Triplemanía XXXIII event, where she failed in her attempt to capture the Reina de Reinas Championship. She also fell to the Intercontinental Champion, Becky Lynch, this past Monday on Monday Night Raw.
