After several months of being absent from programming, Killswitch made his long-awaited return to AEW Dynamite. His stunning reappearance took place in a segment starring the reunion of Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, who were trying to set aside their differences to unite against common issues.

Despite the apparent reconciliation, Christian Cage remained steadfast in his personality, stating that he has nothing to change and will join Copeland out of mere "necessity". Cage assured that he will be the best teammate Adam has ever had before shaking his hand, sealing the deal to mutually help each other with their respective issues with FTR and The Patriarchy.

The reunion was interrupted by Kip Sabian and an injured Nick Wayne, who appeared on the big screen. Wayne, with crutches, accused Christian of breaking his foot and taking away his opportunity in Forbidden Door. However, before finishing, Nick mocked Christian suggesting that he is "always one step ahead".

At that moment, the arena darkened to show a video of Killswitch being revived. The monster returned to attack both wrestlers. While Kip Sabian distracted Copeland, Killswitch attacked Adam and Christian with two brutal Chokeslams. Furthermore, the night ended with the announcement that Killswitch will replace Nick Wayne in the Forbidden Door tag team match.
