Last Sunday, Raja Jackson was involved in one of the most despicable episodes remembered in recent times within the wrestling industry. At the Knokx Pro Wrestling event, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's son unjustly attacked wrestler Syko Stu.

A few minutes earlier, Stu himself attacked Jackson with a can as part of a scripted angle. However, Raja must have been unaware that it was an organized assault, as shortly after, he entered the ring and threw his opponent to the ground to then deliver 20 legitimate punches to the head. As soon as the news broke, many fans accused Jackson of attempting to end his colleague's life. On the other hand, Rob Van Dam has provided a different perspective on the incident.

In his podcast, 1 of a Kind, the former WWE and ECW World Champion stated that several factors converged in Raja's attack, leading to the deplorable event. According to Van Dam, the young man, having no prior knowledge of wrestling, may have perceived Stu's staged attack as a legitimate assault: "So, Raja knows nothing about wrestling. That's what I understand. I heard him say on the broadcast before the event. He said, 'You know, my friends have this wrestling event. I'm going to go support them. I don't know anything about wrestling.' And I believe him."

Furthermore, he also highlighted Jackson's physical and mental health issues, specifically referring to the recent concussion and CTE he suffered. "He says he has concussion symptoms. His head is bothering him a lot, and he has had stomach problems. This is something many haters want to ignore. They don't believe concussion symptoms are real, but then they say, 'I have CTE, and that's why I posted that.' I don't know if they're trying to be funny, but they can't have it both ways. He's concussed," he commented.

Raja Jackson may have been manipulated to attack Syko Stu

However, the most interesting statement Van Dam leaves us in his podcast is the defense that Raja Jackson was manipulated to retaliate against Stu. He simply did what others told him to do, and they even supported him when he was "giving Stu what he deserved": "What I'm saying is that from the beginning, he said what he was going to do. He did what he was told to do, and that's it. Now, I think he's a tool, and I think they used him. He was manipulated. I think, you know, something happened, and then he got angry. They told him, 'No, no, calm down, calm down.' And they said, 'Hey, you know, this is a work. You can hit him back in the ring. Go ahead, you know, give it back to him.' And then his friend, who you didn't show here, but I think everyone has seen the images. His friend AJ with the cowboy hat is telling him, you know, remember what a receipt is, right? You know, give him a receipt. Make sure to hit him hard. If someone gets upset, I'll step in."

Despite Van Dam's efforts, and those of others like Mark Henry trying to exonerate Raja Jackson, the reality is that the situation at the independent event has already escalated to legal levels. While some of the things the veteran wrestler comments on may be true (such as CTE or external manipulation), it is very challenging to defend a person who has committed such a dehumanizing act. We will have to stay tuned for further updates on this case.
