Last weekend, a new character teased their arrival in All Elite Wrestling. Known simply as "The Clon," the new wrestler would begin a storyline with Hologram, as hinted in the latest episode of AEW Collision. However, fans won't have to wait long to discover the true identity of this wrestler, as the outlet The Cubs Fan has been able to confirm that Arez is the man behind the mask.
The well-known Mexican wrestler has been on WWE's radar since they acquired Lucha Libre AAA. The company owned by Endeavor was pleased with what they saw from him and were ready to bring him back to the Mexican company. However, Arez chose to accept an offer proposed by All Elite Wrestling.
"WWE evaluated him, liked what they saw, and let him know they wanted to bring him back to AAA. Arez informed AEW that he now had another offer and they needed to make a final decision. AEW decided to make their own offer, and Arez chose AEW over WWE," the outlet wrote. "This is more significant than just Arez signing with AAA, as it's the first known dispute between AEW and WWE for a Mexican free agent since WWE acquired AAA - but it would emphasize the 'known' part."
Arez is a well-known Mexican wrestler with 15 years of experience in the business. Throughout his career, he has competed for numerous companies worldwide, including TNA, GCW, MLW, and, of course, AAA. Arez joined the company in 2019, where he managed to add two tag team championships to his resume: the Tag Team Title (which he won alongside Komander) and the Mixed Tag Team Championship (which he held with Chik Tormenta).
Arez was also part of one of the company's most prominent factions, The Vipers, which is still active. The wrestler left the company in 2024 alongside Látigo and Toxín (faction partners) to become a free agent. So far, AEW has not confirmed his signing, nor has it announced that of Aramis (the wrestler hiding under the Hologram mask).
