AJ Lee is officially back in WWE. The company confirmed on their social media during the latest edition of SmackDown that the wrestler has put pen to paper to return to action, ending more than ten years of absence from the company's rings.
As reported by Mike Johnson from PW Insider, AJ Lee will make her first television appearance on Monday Night Raw on September 8th, where it is expected that she will seal the deal in front of the cameras and officially announce her participation in WrestlePalooza. There, she will team up with her husband, CM Punk, to face Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch on September 20th in Indianapolis, in WWE's debut on ESPN+.
This return is even more significant considering that it will be AJ's first match since her retirement in 2015. The wrestler, a three-time Divas champion and one of the pioneers who paved the way for the current women's revolution in WWE, returns with a top-level challenge in one of the most anticipated stages of the year.
The reunion of AJ Lee and CM Punk in the same ring also carries a huge symbolic weight. Both have been key figures at different times in the company, and now they will have the opportunity to share a corner against one of the most powerful couples in today's WWE.
The match promises to be one of the main attractions of WrestlePalooza, an event that is already generating a lot of buzz among fans. In the last few hours, it has also been confirmed the match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar, a duel that could be the main event, something that has not yet been confirmed.
