The return of Wardlow to AEW programming has been overshadowed by concerning news. As reported this afternoon by Fightful through their Patreon channel, the wrestler is said to have suffered a presumed pectoral tear, an injury that could sideline him for a long period of time. The situation is particularly unfortunate as Wardlow was returning after over a year away due to various physical issues. Despite being medically cleared months ago, his television appearance was delayed as he was filming the first two seasons of the show American Gladiators, a shoot that has now concluded.
Wardlow has suffered an injury almost immediately after returning from an absence of over a year. AEW sources we spoke to said there are fears the injury is a torn pectoral muscle, which would keep him out of action for quite some time. There is a possibility he may remain on television in a managerial role.
Internal AEW sources indicate that the injury may have occurred during the same angle of his return, although this detail is unconfirmed. Nevertheless, there is consideration for Wardlow to continue appearing on screen, perhaps in an enforcer role, while he undergoes recovery.
Fellow wrestlers have expressed their dismay upon hearing the news, as Wardlow had been eagerly waiting to return to the spotlight and had worked hard to overcome his previous injuries. Now, the immediate future of the powerhouse is once again up in the air.
