Nikki Bella returned to WWE programming for the second edition of Evolution. However, contrary to what many thought, the WWE Hall of Famer has continued to appear on screen as a regular talent on the Monday Night Raw roster.
Nikki herself hinted in a recent interview that her new stage in WWE is far from over. The former Divas champion has many goals in mind and many colleagues with whom she wants to share the ring. In this sense, a fan asked Nikki about her goals in the company now that she has returned to compete.
"At first, I didn't know what to expect when I started, and then I understood what my first direction was, but all that changed with Liv (Morgan). Personally, one thing I knew I wanted with this return - and still want - is to get back in shape, in fighting shape, and reach a physical level like I had many years ago. That's the physical part," she said on the Nikki & Brie Show.
"Then, I wanted to catch up in the wrestling aspect within this new era. How far can I push myself, get out of my comfort zone, and show that I can be at the level of this generation? Who am I as a wrestler and inside the ring, am I going to change that? I have always been known more as a powerhouse, and that changed when I returned from my neck fracture. At that moment, I had to modify part of my move set and what I did within my art. Now I know I'm going to do that again, and I want to change."
"At first, I wanted to keep Fearless Nikki just as she was, because for me this return was more of a nostalgia thing: 'here is this Hall of Fame member, this legend, let's keep her the same'. That was my focus. I'm a marketing machine, so I wanted to keep what was sellable and what people recognized about me. But now that I'm inside, I really feel like changing her a bit. I think it would be a lot of fun."
"I work with the creative team every week, very directly. I love being involved. Everyone there is very involved. It's very different from how it used to be. Even when we do promos, before they gave you everything written, and now it's very different. It's great. You just sit down and talk about it. They give you the base of the idea, but everything changes the same day. It was never like that before, and it's really cool. I'm very excited about the possibility of taking Fearless Nikki in a different direction. Deep down, I would love to be a heel again, but it's also very fun to face the challenge of being a babyface in this era, which is very different. That has been quite a challenge. I'm excited to see what comes with this," she concluded.
