Rey Mysterio has shown his enthusiasm for the possibility of returning to Lucha Libre AAA after the purchase of the Mexican promotion by WWE. The masked wrestler, who began his career in AAA in the nineties and returned in the 2010s, hopes to be able to represent both companies once he returns from his injury.
"I would definitely love to," he declared on the WWE Raw Recap podcast. "After 2014, I had the opportunity to return to AAA without knowing that this moment would ever come. Now that it's happening, I can't wait to get back in the ring and represent the two companies that gave me my opportunity in life and in my career. I am very excited for that day."
In recent months, Rey has already had some presence at Lucha Libre AAA events. Last month, he participated in Triplemanía, where he was in charge of inducting his friend Konnan into the Hall of Fame of the Mexican company.
The former world champion has been sidelined for almost five months due to a groin injury, suffered just before WrestleMania, which forced him to miss his scheduled match against El Grande Americano, portrayed by Chad Gable at the time.
Meanwhile, the next event WWE x AAA Worlds Collide will take place this Friday in Las Vegas, with Dominik Mysterio challenging El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship in the main event. When asked about the possibility of facing his own son if he were to win the title, Rey left a "never say never."
