WrestleMania 43 will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a decision that has generated discontent among many fans. However, not everyone thinks the same. Rob Van Dam has come out in defense of WWE and downplayed the controversy.
In his podcast 1 of a Kind, RVD explained that he sees this move as a business matter. From what he has read, there is a lot of money at stake, both for the company and for several wrestlers, and he considers it logical for WWE to make this decision.
According to what they say on the Internet, there is a lot of money on the line for the company and for many of the guys. It's business, so I have no problem with it.
The former champion also wondered if international fans will travel to Saudi Arabia to experience the event live, although he believes it is possible. He recalled that cities like Japan or England already send fans to the United States, and for them, it could simply be a change of direction on the map.
Van Dam compared WWE's schedule to having birthday cake all year round: if the company takes just one big show to another location, fans still have a large number of shows available to them. In his opinion, the fans are "spoiled" by the abundance of events.
The celebration of WrestleMania 43 in Riyadh is scheduled for 2027. Saudi Arabia will pay WWE $250,000, an agreement that confirms the company continues to prioritize what it considers best for business.
