Plans for WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia are aiming high. The intention is to make the 2027 event the most legendary-filled spectacle in history, coinciding with the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the first Saudi State. Names like The Rock, Steve Austin, The Undertaker, and even Shawn Michaels would have appeared on the wish list.
However, one of the mentioned icons has already put a stop to the speculations. Shawn Michaels, interviewed on the show Nightcap with Unc & Ocho, responded bluntly when asked about a hypothetical return to the ring, even in a joking tone.
Not a chance. Not a chance. Even if it wasn't so, I feel blessed and fortunate for everything I've done. I'm now thrilled to dedicate myself to what I do, help the future of WWE, and be part of that.
Michaels, who already anticipates undergoing knee surgeries, made it clear that his role is linked to talent development in NXT and not to a "final match." Even though Saudi Arabia may be willing to offer millions, the Heartbreak Kid does not consider breaking his retirement.
Michaels' refusal makes even more sense when recalling his last brief return to the ring in 2018, when he came out of retirement for a match in Saudi Arabia alongside Triple H against The Undertaker and Kane. After years of stating he wouldn't wrestle again, "The Heartbreak Kid" accepted that match, but the result did not meet expectations and was heavily criticized by fans. That experience reinforced his decision not to lace up his boots competitively again.
