Almost a decade after their match at WrestleMania 32, former Brock Lesnar manager, Paul Heyman, has spoken candidly about why the fight against Jon Moxley (then known as Dean Ambrose) was so disappointing. In a recent interview, with Inside the Ropes, Heyman broke the silence about the rivalry and directly blamed Moxley for the failed outcome.
Heyman stated that Moxley's attitude in the ring was a clear reflection of his "weak" performance on Stone Cold's podcast. The "Wise One" explained that Moxley's lack of interest in that interview directly affected his match at WrestleMania, which impacted the quality of the encounter and frustrated fans and even Steve Austin himself who were expecting much more.
The manager warned that taking liberties with Brock Lesnar never ends well, citing legends like Braun Strowman, Randy Orton, and even The Undertaker as examples. "If you mess with him, the match won't be good. You'll just end up getting your butt kicked, stretched, and thrown around mercilessly, while Brock won't care." Heyman concluded.
To emphasize his point, Heyman added that, if he could, Steve Austin would have come out of retirement at that moment just to slap Moxley for his lack of professionalism on the podcast. The match between Lesnar and Moxley at WrestleMania 32 remains one of the most criticized in history, and with his recent comments, Paul Heyman makes it clear that, in his opinion, the blame for that failure falls entirely on Jon Moxley.
