After more than a decade away, AJ Lee will return to a WWE ring this Saturday at Wrestlepalooza, a historic moment that has generated enormous excitement among fans. The former Divas champion, who left wrestling in 2015, explained on ESPN what were the reasons that finally convinced her to accept this challenge.

Lee will team up with her husband CM Punk to face Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch in a mixed tag team match. As she revealed, the decision was not taken lightly: "When I retired, I felt complete and satisfied with my career. To come back, I needed it to feel like something completely new, exciting, and even a little scary".

The idea that Wrestlepalooza marks the beginning of a new era for WWE on ESPN was key in her reflection: "Starting this chapter on ESPN is like climbing a new mountain for the company, and I was flattered that they trusted me to attract attention".

Another decisive factor was the opportunity to share the ring with Becky Lynch, whom she described as a demanding and fascinating rival: "Becky is wonderful in the ring, we have many similarities, and it wouldn't be easy to face her. That made it even more exciting for me".

After her retirement, AJ Lee kept a low profile in the business, with a brief stint as a producer and commentator in WOW Women of Wrestling. Her return generates special interest because during her years in WWE, she established herself as one of the most influential wrestlers of her generation, leaving a legacy that inspired a large number of followers.

WWE Wrestlepalooza will take place this Saturday, September 20th, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, a venue with a capacity of almost 20,000 spectators. Fans will be able to watch the show through ESPN in the United States and Netflix internationally.
