John Cena's passage through WrestlePalooza was marked by an unexpected outcome. Instead of a balanced duel against Brock Lesnar, fans witnessed a true squash that lasted just eight minutes. The decision surprised many, including the youngest ones in the stands, who ended up with tears in their eyes after seeing their idol fall so decisively.
John Cena Sr., father of the 16-time world champion, expressed his discontent in Sportskeeda WrestleBinge. For him, that was not a match, but a poorly executed setup that deprived fans of the excitement that should accompany a farewell fight.
I'm not saying this because he's my son, but that was not a match. It was a squash. Eight minutes, nothing more. There were a thousand ways to do it better, with more excitement and spectacle. Brock didn't need that easy victory, and all I saw were kids crying in the stands. Is this how you want to run the business?
In his analysis, Cena Sr. pointed out that from Paul Heyman's introduction, when he referred to Lesnar as "the last great ass kicker," the outcome of the match was already clear. According to him, WWE sought to present Lesnar as an unstoppable beast at the expense of destroying one of its icons, something he considers unnecessary and poorly executed.
"Apparently the goal was to show that the Beast had decimated the GOAT and leave the question of who would be his next victim. But the way they did it was very poor. The same could have been conveyed without having to degrade John in that way," he added harshly.
The truth is that WrestlePalooza served as a definitive closure to the rivalry between Cena and Lesnar. With that chapter now closed, Cena will continue his farewell tour by facing AJ Styles at Crown Jewel, while Lesnar's future remains uncertain and any new challenge could be just around the corner.
