Sting ended a legendary career of more than four decades at AEW Revolution. "The Icon's" last match was truly special and emotional, not only because of what it represented, but also due to the presence of his sons, Steven and Garrett Borden, who took part in the match portraying past versions of their father. Now, one of them will follow in his footsteps.
We are talking about Steven Borden, who last night made his debut as a professional wrestler at 52W Hardway, an event that combines art, music, and wrestling, organized by Darby Allin, Raymond Pettibon, and Charlie Ramone from All Elite Wrestling. Steven teamed up with JD Drake from The Workhorsemen to face Allin and Killer Kross in a tag team match.
Unlike his participation in AEW Revolution, this time Borden wore black pants and did not wear makeup during the match, which could be a preview of his aesthetic plans for his early professional career. ARTnews posted several clips about it on their Instagram account, which you can see below this paragraph.
"Last night, live wrestling took over 52 Walker. As part of the gallery's new exhibition - a display of Raymond Pettibon's wrestling drawings - his friend and two-time AEW TNT champion, Darby Allin, organized matches inside a ring set up in the gallery. He was joined by Killer Kross, Steven Borden, Sid Ellington, Kiran Grey, and Timothy Thatcher, with the LA band Purest Form opening the night.
Organized by Ebony L. Haynes, this two-week presentation - part exhibition, part event - revolves around Pettibon's critique of American myths about masculinity, power, and spectacle. Don't miss the next and final match on October 10 at 52 Walker, and follow ARTnews for more," the publication wrote.
In this way, Steven Borden begins his journey into the world of professional wrestling alongside one of his trainers, Darby Allin. As the former TNT champion revealed in a 2024 interview, Steven had never thought about becoming a wrestler, but his participation in AEW Revolution gave him a push in that direction. In fact, Steven himself confessed that that moment was an emotional high for him.
After talking with Sting and Steven, Darby invited the latter to train with him at his home, where he has a ring to help him with this process. Now, more than a year after starting his training, Steven is ready to take the first steps in the industry that his father loves so much and has given so much to.
