Santos Escobar has been trending this past week after the wrestler shared several posts on his social media hinting that his time in WWE was coming to an end. Well, it seems that the rumors were true and that his cryptic messages were related to his imminent departure.
So imminent that it could happen as soon as tonight. This was explained by the specialized media Fightful in a recent report, with several sources from the company indicating that Escobar had rejected several renewal offers from WWE, which will lead the Mexican to leave the company.
"Sources within WWE confirmed this morning to Fightful Select that Santos Escobar's contract is expiring 'very soon', and for now it doesn't seem like he will continue with the company. It was implied that both parties had discussed a possible extension, but it has not been confirmed," the media wrote.
"Outside of WWE, Escobar wrestled under the name King Cuerno in Lucha Underground. He also wrestled extensively as El Hijo del Fantasma in CMLL, AAA, and TNA/IMPACT Wrestling. It is expected that he will be in high demand if he ends up leaving WWE," Fightful wrote.
Later, in an update, Fightful specified the exact date on which Escobar will no longer be a WWE superstar. "In a recent update, WWE sources pointed out that Santos' contract expires at midnight. The company has tried to renew it, but he rejected the offers," the report concluded.
This information seems to coincide with Escobar's latest post on his social media. In a brief video titled "PALANTE!!!", the wrestler seems ready to continue his professional career far from WWE. It is worth noting that in his bio, he does not mention WWE. Instead, he describes himself as "Mexican" and "Latino."
