Santos Escobar has officially ceased to belong to WWE after the expiration of his contract this Tuesday at midnight. The wrestler's profile has disappeared from the WWE roster section and several media outlets have confirmed his departure. A few minutes ago, he reinforced the news with a video in which the accompanying text reads: "PALANTE" (move forward).

According to Fightful Select, the negotiations to renew did not reach a good port, as the Mexican wrestler rejected the company's offers due to creative differences, rather than economic issues, despite being offered a salary increase.

Reports indicate that Escobar could make an appearance this weekend at the New York Comic Con. Although his immediate future has not been confirmed, his international experience and prestige in the independent circuit suggest that he will not take long to receive new proposals.

Escobar, who was part of the Legado del Fantasma group, has not competed since the WWE SuperShows held in Mexico on July 26 and 27. In total, the wrestler has only competed in seven matches so far this year, including two battle royals. Since his separation from the LWO, he was aligned with Los Garza in the SmackDown programming, although with an increasingly limited presence.

The 41-year-old Mexican, whose real name is Jorge Bolly, signed with WWE in August 2019 after a distinguished career in CMLL and AAA. After an initial injury, he debuted in NXT in 2020, where he won the Cruiserweight Championship and formed the successful stable that would later be promoted to the main roster in 2022.

Latin talent exodus

During the last few days, we have seen how different Latin wrestlers have changed scenery. It all began with Andrade, who reached an agreement to leave WWE and returned to All Elite Wrestling. In TNA Wrestling, Laredo Kid and Octagón Jr. also confirmed their departure. Santos Escobar is the latest talent to leave one of the major companies, at a time when the Mexican market is in focus.
