In the last few days, WWE has released several talents from the developmental territory in a move inherent to the natural process of continuous evaluation of its athletes. Thus, more than a dozen talents were informed that their contracts would not be renewed or that they were being released, such as Stevie Turner or Wes Lee.
A recent report from Fightful indicated that the company had already finished with this wave of releases. However, it seems that is not the case. Ridge Holland has announced that his time in the company will end in a month as his contract will not be renewed.
"I have been informed that WWE will not renew my contract when it ends on November 14th. WWE will continue to cover my rehabilitation for the injury, but my guaranteed salary will end. It is quite frustrating, to say the least, as I will not be able to work for another 6 months due to the mentioned injury, and I have a family of 5 to support.
My career in WWE has been marked by bad luck, but I am still grateful for the opportunity and the experience. The light that has always kept me going has been the HUGE support of a small group of very special human beings. Thank you.
I don't know what the future holds for me in terms of wrestling, but from now on I will focus on recovering. During that time, I will launch my own online training business, so stay tuned. Regards," Holland wrote on his X account.
Ridge Holland signed with WWE in 2018 as part of the NXT UK project. When the brand was closed, the wrestler was sent to NXT USA. Holland was promoted to the main roster at the end of 2021, landing in SmackDown, where he would soon join Sheamus and Pete Dunne to form The Brawling Brutes.
However, as Holland himself mentions, luck has eluded him in WWE. Ridge has suffered two major injuries, one in 2020 and the most recent one last month. The British wrestler suffered a Lisfranc injury during his last match in TNA Wrestling. As a result, he had to undergo surgery, and he won't be able to compete again for about half a year.
In recent months, Holland had returned to WWE's developmental territory to find himself and compete solo again after the abrupt end of "The Brawling Brutes". He was recently sent to WWE Evolve, where he started a rivalry with Tate Wilder, while also starting another one with Mike Santana in TNA. In fact, they faced each other one-on-one at Victory Road the day before the British wrestler's injury.
