One of the greatest masks in all of history, Rey Mysterio, could be making his return to WWE very soon, and that is always very good news. According to Mike Johnson, from PW Insider, the 3-time WWE World Champion has been training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando for several days now. This is always very good news, as typically the recovery of injured wrestlers from the company begins and ends at the training center.
Mysterio has been missing from television since the SmackDown show before WrestleMania 41, a card from which he had to be removed. Mysterio, who was originally scheduled to face El Grande Americano at the grand event, saw Rey Fenix take his spot after a tear in the abductor muscle that required surgery. In addition to this setback, Mysterio would later reveal that, in the same match where he suffered that groin injury, he also had to fight with a burst eardrum. Despite this, the wrestler continued to fight that night and even tried to make it to WrestleMania, something that ultimately proved impossible.
Upon his return, Mysterio could have a key role in AAA, something that was reported a few weeks ago. According to these reports, WWE and the Mexican company could hold a joint event during the Survivor Series WarGames weekend, the last weekend of November. The event takes place in San Diego, the wrestler's hometown. Additionally, the masked wrestler has made several appearances in AAA in recent months, inducting Konnan into the Hall of Fame and, most interestingly, having some disagreements with his son Dominik.
Although initially it seemed that the return of the San Diego native could have happened a couple of months ago, it seems that the timing has been slightly extended. Nevertheless, being able to continue seeing the little giant in action at 50 years old is a true joy for any wrestling fan.
