Luke Menzies, formerly known as Ridge Holland, announced yesterday that his contract with WWE will expire on November 14th. According to the British wrestler, the company informed him that his agreement would not be renewed, similar to what has happened with a dozen other talents in recent days.

However, WWE will continue to cover the medical expenses for his rehabilitation from his last injury, which caught the attention of many fans. Today, the specialized outlet Fightful has been able to learn more details about the case, including the reason why the company has decided to cover these medical expenses.

"Many fans interpreted the fact that the company is paying for the rehabilitation as a gesture of goodwill. However, Ridge Holland was injured while participating in a TNA event that was part of his contract with WWE. Not covering the expenses of his rehabilitation could have led to a lawsuit that Menzies probably would have won," the outlet wrote.

"Additionally, as Wrestling Observer reported, Menzies was receiving the standard NXT salary, which is true. Fightful Select has learned that Menzies' original contract with the main roster was set to expire in November 2024. He was offered a one-year extension with a salary approximately $200,000 lower than what he had been earning, and he accepted it. That contract ends in mid-November. We have been informed that Menzies did not receive any additional pay for his participation in the talent exchange with TNA, during which he got injured," Fightful wrote.

"The WWE talents we have spoken to were unanimously disappointed that Menzies is not getting paid while he is injured. A veteran of the WWE male roster stated that something like this had never happened before the pandemic, and that is a major concern for many on the roster," the outlet wrote.

In a month, Menzies will end a seven-year stint in WWE. His journey has seen him compete in nearly every brand of the company, from NXT UK to NXT USA, through SmackDown back to NXT, and most recently being sent to WWE Evolve. His last match took place during the TNA Wrestling TV tapings after Victory Road, where he suffered a Lisfranc injury that required surgery. While he recovers, Menzies is preparing an online training project.
