Kota Ibushi has been discharged from the hospital where he was operated after suffering a femur fracture during his match against Josh Alexander in the AEW Collision tapings on October 9. The serious injury occurred when both fell from the third rope to the outside of the ring. The incident resulted in such a severe injury that Ibushi himself acknowledged that the bone "pierced the muscle."
After his release, Ibushi posted on Instagram where he wanted to thank all the people who helped him in the process, including Tony Khan, Kenny Omega, and the medical staff at the center. Ibushi has a long road to recovery, and the diagnosis predicts a couple of years before he can return to the ring. However, thanks to the support received, he is willing to do everything possible to come back.
"I have finally managed to reach the wheelchair," wrote Kota Ibushi on Instagram. "This has also been possible thanks to the nurses, Nakazawa, Kenny, President Tony Khan, and many other dedicated people, as well as the support of the fans, who have made it possible for me to move from the bed to the wheelchair."
The pain has been unbearable, the most intense I have ever felt. In such a short time, my legs and body have weakened, and I have lost 12.4 kilos, but this is only the beginning of the process after the operation. From now on, how I recover will depend entirely on my own decisions, and the future will change according to them. I am going to heal in the best possible way, without giving up!
"It is the first time I see and feel a place where, despite having work outside of wrestling, the president himself makes such a personal effort for others. I have no words to thank so many contract extensions and so much support. Kenny, even though he is the vice president, is also giving his best. I don't know how I will be able to repay it... I can only do it through wrestling. I am going to give everything for the company and for the fans with what I am capable of doing right now!" he concluded.
