The return of Swerve Strickland to the AEW ring could happen sooner than expected. As reported early this morning by Fightful Select, the former world champion of the company is recovering satisfactorily from his meniscus surgery and already has a tentative estimate for his return to action.
During the past summer, it was revealed that Strickland had been competing with a meniscus injury since his time in WWE, an ailment that eventually required surgical intervention. The recovery period had been planned for some time, with the intention that he could take an extended break to fully heal.
Sources consulted by Sean Ross Sapp, from Fightful Select, indicated that the optimistic goal is for Swerve Strickland to be ready to return in the winter, as long as no setbacks arise.
Initially, there were rumors that Swerve was planning to take time off after All In, although his break ended up happening a bit later than expected. Nevertheless, the wrestler has taken advantage of his time away from the ring to focus on other personal projects, including his musical side. Recently, he posted a photo in the recording studio with the legendary rapper Raekwon, showing that he remains active and creative while preparing for his comeback.
The potential return of Swerve Strickland during the winter would be a significant boost for AEW, especially leading up to Full Gear or Worlds End. After establishing himself as one of the most charismatic and technical figures on the roster, his return could reignite several pending rivalries and strengthen the landscape of the world title scene.
