The latest edition of AEW WrestleDream pleased fans with a solid lineup and great matches. However, it also angered a sector of fans due to issues unrelated to the show. Those fans who purchased the event on Amazon Prime Video were left without seeing the ending because the platform cut off the broadcast.
Today, the popular streaming platform has decided to refund the money to all those who purchased the event, regardless of whether they experienced the issue. Amazon has apologized for what happened and thanked buyers for trusting them.
"We understand that you recently had trouble watching the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view event through Prime Video. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced that night and we want to correct the situation.
We have issued a full refund for the event to your account, which will be credited to the original payment method within 5 to 7 business days. If you requested a refund previously, it has already been processed. Refunds are usually completed within 5 to 7 business days and you will see the amount credited on your next statement. Please note that this does not include your bank's processing time.
We greatly value our relationship with customers and recognize that you have multiple options when choosing your PPV provider. We appreciate you making your purchase through Prime Video," the platform wrote in an email to all customers who bought the event.
AEW WrestleDream was available to fans through multiple operators. In the case of Prime Video, American fans paid $49.99 to watch the event live ($19.99 pounds for UK residents). The show was also available on platforms like Thriller TV for $19.99.
The extent of Amazon's losses from this incident is unknown, although they are perfectly manageable for one of the most profitable companies in the world. On the other hand, their decision to refund the full purchase amount to their customers will calm tensions and set a precedent on the platform that will positively impact consumer confidence.
