Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize have been making headlines in specialized media since last weekend. The reason? Their refusal to compete in the latest episode of AEW Collision, where they were scheduled to lose in a match lasting only three minutes.

This short duration led them to request an extension of time in order to develop a more elaborate in-ring storyline. All Elite Wrestling's refusal to modify an already closed script led to Newell and Alize leaving the venue an hour before the show started, which prompted the company to turn to Maya World and Hyan, who filled the gap left by them.

When the news started circulating on the Internet, many fans criticized Newell and Alize, accusing them of unprofessionalism and ingratitude, especially considering the visibility the company was offering them. The magnitude of this story reached a point where Newell decided to defend herself on her Twitch channel, denouncing the online harassment she was receiving and making it clear that the information leaked to the media had been distorted.

Alize also wanted to comment on the matter. And she did so through an Instagram Story, where she reiterated that she and Newell are not the villains of this story. "The moment you start defending yourself, everything changes. Suddenly, you are the problem. Not because you have changed, but because you no longer allow them to take advantage of you. They will paint you as the villain, but that's okay, because you are finally choosing yourself. This is where your freedom begins," she wrote.

Regardless of what happened on Saturday night, one thing seems clear: Newell and Alize were scheduled to fight but did not due to creative differences. From here, we encounter a dual narrative that has divided fans between those who believe the wrestlers acted unprofessionally and those who think they did what was best for their interests. In any case, what happened on Saturday could close the door to a future in AEW for them.
