TNA Wrestling set a new attendance record in North America with the celebration of Bound for Glory 2025, an event that took place on October 12th at the Tsongas Center on the UMass Lowell campus in Massachusetts. A total of 7,794 fans attended the event, the highest number recorded in the company's 23-year history. However, a month later, the numbers seem to not add up. This was explained by Brandon Thurston from Wrestlenomics in a recent report.
"Documents provided to Wrestlenomics by the University of Massachusetts Lowell, owner of the Tsongas Center, show different figures. A report from the venue operator, Oak View Group, indicates that 5,554 tickets were sold. The turnstile count - that is, the number of tickets registered as used - was 6,137. The same report described the event as 'a great success' and highlighted that food and beverage sales were among the highest in the stadium's history," Thurston wrote.
"In response to our questions, TNA spokesperson Ross Forman stated that the attendance figure announced 'was verified by the Tsongas Center management team'. He also informed us that the attendance set a record for the venue and surpassed the previous North American record set by Slammiversary in July," the analyst wrote.
"What is clear is that Bound For Glory was one of the most profitable events in TNA's history. The 5,554 tickets sold generated a revenue of $390,348, with an average ticket price of $70. The Tsongas Center charged TNA a rental fee of $45,000. Although concession revenues likely went to the venue, fans spent an additional $122,156 on food and beverages," the report states.
At this point, it is clear that, regardless of the actual attendance figure, the event was a success in terms of attendance. But, what explains the difference between the announced figure of 7,794 attendees on the day of the event and the 5,554 figure provided by Oak View Group?
Thurston posed this question to Forman, who explained that the report obtained by WrestleNomics from the Tsongas Center "does not show the full picture". Besides the venue's capacity of 7,484 seats, additional standing room space was also utilized.
"Beyond our ticketed attendees, we also had many seats and standing areas occupied by accredited TNA guests, media, staff, VIPs, and other groups, which raised the total attendance to 7,794," Forman said regarding this.
In any case, the success of TNA Bound For Glory is undeniable, as indicated by the event's revenue figure. A success largely driven by the alliance that Anthem Media's company currently maintains with WWE, which has allowed it to enjoy greater visibility in a time of profound internal changes.
