Randy Orton will return to WWE's television programming on the December 5 episode of SmackDown, as reported by the company's official website. This way, "The Viper" would make his first appearance two months after his last participation in a weekly show.

The event will take place at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, a show for which Cody Rhodes, Tiffany Stratton, Charlotte Flair, Drew McIntyre, and Sami Zayn have also been announced. It is worth noting that Orton could make a surprise return before December 5, but this is the earliest date for which he is being announced.

"The Viper's" last appearance took place on the October 3 blue brand show, where he was attacked by Seth Rollins and The Vision after teaming up with Cody Rhodes in the main event of the night. That show ended very badly for Orton, who received a stomp from Rollins and a Tsunami from Bronson Reed.

Therefore, Orton would return just after Survivor Series WarGames and in time for the next edition of Saturday Night's Main Event, a show where John Cena will retire. It is worth remembering that the seventeen-time world champion announced that the event will feature exhibition matches pitting main roster superstars against NXT talents. It remains to be seen if Orton will be chosen to be part of these matches.
