Oba Femi has become one of the most promising talents for the future in WWE. Since his debut in NXT, "The Ruler" has not stopped surprising both fans and company executives thanks to his presence, power, and great performances inside the ring, making him one of the best Powerhouse, not only in the developmental brand, but in all of WWE.
With John Cena's retirement, Oba had the opportunity to participate in Saturday Night's Main Event, where he faced one of the faces of the company, Cody Rhodes, demonstrating what many already think: that NXT has become too small for him. The Nigerian is now ready to make the leap to the main roster, as he explained in a recent interview with Peter Rosenberg on Cheap Heat.
"Of course. Of course. Definitely. Especially when I believe in myself and I believe I'm good enough to be there. Right now, I'm good enough to be on the main roster, period. There's no doubt about it," he stated.
"I've been patient. I've done what has been put in front of me. Because sometimes, when you think about what's at the end of the tunnel, you somehow get lost and stop knowing how to handle your current situation. So I've tried, as much as possible, to stay on the right path," he added.
His arrival on the main roster would open up a wide range of options for the Nigerian, who could face many great superstars. Oba admitted that he has thought a lot about the dream matches he could have as a talent on SmackDown or Raw, but still prefers to stay focused on the present.
"Yes, I think about those dream matches. I think about Femi against Drew (McIntyre), Oba Femi against Randy (Orton), Oba Femi against (John) Cena. I've thought about Oba Femi against Cody Rhodes, which has actually happened now. I've thought about these matches for a long time. But I've also tried to stay focused on the present," he said.
Femi will defend the NXT Championship against Leon Slater at New Year's Evil, the traditional special episode of the developmental brand to celebrate the new year. In addition to the TNA talent, "The Ruler" must also worry about the return of Tony D'Angelo, who seems to have set his sights on the Nigerian, whom he has already defeated once.
