Kota Ibushi underwent surgery in October to treat a femur injury that will keep him away from the wrestling ring for a long time. The Japanese star suffered an accident during his last match against Josh Alexander in AEW Collision. At one point in the match, Alexander carried Ibushi on his shoulders from the second rope, but they both ended up falling towards ringside, with Ibushi landing badly on the ground.
Ibushi immediately knew the injury was serious, and the medical team quickly took him to a hospital, where he received the dreaded diagnosis. Today, more than two months after his surgery, "The Golden Star" has taken to his Instagram account to provide an update on his condition with good news for his fans.
"I suffered a serious injury. The doctor told me it would take me about two years to return to competition. It's been about two months since I got injured. However, it seems like I won't need that much time. But that doesn't mean I will take shortcuts. This time, I really want to get back in the wrestling ring. So, please give me a little more time," wrote the Japanese star.
The update was accompanied by several photographs and a video where Ibushi can be seen exercising his legs with kettlebells, an indication that his recovery is progressing very well. However, the wrestler still has a long way to go. According to his statements, he will not return until he is sure he is at 100%, something essential to face his return to action with guarantees, especially after the string of injuries he has suffered in recent years.
