On December 13, 2025, will be marked in the history books as the retirement date of one of the greatest legends of professional wrestling. John Cena ended his career in a very special edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. A show that also set a historic record for the venue.
According to Pollstar data (via POST Wrestling), ticket sales for Saturday Night's Main Event reached $6,553,883. This figure not only represents the highest box office in the history of the Capital One Arena for a wrestling event, but also the highest revenue in an arena (venues smaller than a stadium) for WWE in 2025.
The report reveals that the show sold 17,121 tickets, with an average price of $383 per ticket. The previous box office record in an arena for WWE was $4.89 million, a record set at the premiere of Raw on Netflix at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
The show featured the participation of several NXT talents at the express request of John Cena, who wanted to share the spotlight with the future of WWE. Meanwhile, the seventeen-time world champion faced Gunther in the main event of the night. However, his defeat did not sit well with some fans, who did not hesitate to boo Triple H for a creative decision they did not agree with.
