In the last few hours, it has been reported the departure of several WWE talents, including two heavyweights like Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. According to sources like Fightful Select, The New Day members reached a mutual agreement with the company to end their stay there.
Of course, the news has not left anyone indifferent, with many professional colleagues reacting to the departure of one of the most decorated teams in WWE history. Within the company, men like Jey Uso (with whom they had one of the biggest rivalries in the tag team division) have bid farewell to Kingston and Woods with heartfelt messages on their social media.
"My boys from ...NEW ...DAY. With love, Uces", wrote Jey Uso.
"The locker room hurts with this #NewDay. All the love for Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston", wrote Damian Priest.
The reaction within the All Elite Wrestling locker room has been different, where the news has been received with enthusiasm. Many are hoping that Kofi and Xavier will end up joining Tony Khan's company, where many of their friends currently compete.
"It's a new day, yes it is", wrote MJF in an Instagram Story.
"Damn. It's a New Day. Damn", wrote Cash Wheeler from FTR.
"I'll be able to beat them up in Tekken again. Without a doubt, It's a New Day", wrote Ricochet.
"In the ring, (Kofi) is one of the best, without a doubt. There's no way around it. Outside the ring, he's Mount Rushmore material. As a leader, friend, family man, coworker... you name it. Kofi is a rarity in this industry. In fact, he's one of a kind in life. I feel fortunate to have had a front-row seat for much of his journey, from the days of the Jamaican character in Chaotic and in development, to the main roster, KofiMania, and beyond... he never changed. Not once. Not for a second," wrote Tommaso Ciampa.
Despite their amicable departure, Fightful reports that Kingston and Woods will have to abide by the classic 90-day non-compete clause, which will prevent them from appearing on AEW's television programming until at least early August. With All In scheduled for the end of that month, it wouldn't be far-fetched to think of a possible debut of the former tag team champions at one of the biggest events of the year in AEW.
