During a Self Made session, Self Made Pro revealed that the arrival of Leon Slater to WWE was practically inevitable. However, talent and figures from AEW are now pushing for the company to actively seek to sign the British star. "Months ago, it was taken for granted that he would go to WWE. And I'm not here to tell you that it's not going to happen anymore. But what I am telling you is that there are many people in AEW pushing for them to explore all options to sign him".

This becomes even more interesting because Self Made Pro made it clear that Leon Slater does not have any official contract with WWE at this time. "He doesn't have any contract with WWE. So he doesn't have to be subject to anything, let's say hypothetically that he already gave them his word... even if he did, he can retract if he wants".

According to the report, there is a growing belief that both major companies could seriously compete to secure Leon Slater once his current situation is resolved. "I know that in AEW they are pushing for them to inquire about him. So I think we are heading towards some kind of arms race once he becomes available".

In March 2026, Corey Brennan, from Fightful Select, reported that many European promoters and wrestlers believed that Leon Slater had intentionally reduced his commitments in the independent circuit during what reportedly was a one-year contract. At that time, several sources also believed that WWE would have a great interest in signing him once his contract with TNA expired at the end of that year. Slater has not wrestled outside of TNA or WWE-affiliated events since November 2025, fueling speculation that he may be preparing for a significant potential change.
