Jim Ross had a very complicated weekend around AEW Double or Nothing, although he was still able to participate in the event's commentary. The veteran announcer explained that he had a fall the day before the pay-per-view, which caused him to miss his scheduled flight.
Ross explained on his podcast Grilling JR that, when he fell, he didn't have his phone nearby, which made it difficult for him to ask for help at that moment. As a result, he had to change his flight for later and the trip already started off on a rough note.
Once in New York, the situation worsened. Ross recounted that, already in his hotel room, his back suddenly worsened to the point of leaving him practically unable to move normally.
Despite everything, Ross was able to work at Double or Nothing and participated in the commentary of the match between Jon Moxley and Kyle O'Reilly. However, he admitted that he would have liked to commentate on more than one match during the evening.
After returning home on Monday, Ross stated that he is still in pain and needs to find a doctor who can help him with the weakness he is feeling in his legs. He also pointed out that, from now on, he will make sure to always have his phone with him to avoid a similar situation.
Additionally, Ross mentioned that his current contract with AEW ends this August, after signing a one-year extension in 2025. He explained that he is not particularly worried about his future and will leave the final decision in the hands of Tony Khan.
