WWE continues its tour through Europe, a series of events that will conclude this Monday in France with the broadcast of Monday Night Raw from the Accor Arena in Paris.
The company has held two shows in Spain: an episode of SmackDown on May 29 at the Pabelló Olímpic de Badalona and a house show at the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid on June 4. Both events were presented as a great opportunity for Spanish fans to enjoy live performances by several of WWE's top stars, including Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, and Gunther.
However, despite the fact that the product is currently being regularly streamed on Netflix, ticket sales did not reflect that apparent stability. According to WrestleTix, the event in Badalona sold 5,692 tickets in a venue with an approximate maximum capacity of 13,000 spectators. This figure is considerably lower than the one recorded last year, when it is estimated that WWE sold around 10,000 tickets for the same arena.
The Solowrestling team was present at the show and can confirm that, in last year's edition, only two sections were covered with tarps. In contrast, this year approximately half of the upper stands were closed, in addition to most of the seats located in the back corners of the hard cam.
These data reflect a significant drop in attendance compared to WWE's last televised visit to Badalona. Although the company continues to invest in the Spanish market and maintains a strong international presence, attendance figures suggest that there are still challenges to consolidate the growth of its live audience in Spain, even in a stage marked by greater media exposure thanks to Netflix.
